IF it's legit, that really is a tempting offer.  But it gets to a point where we have too many draft picks and young players.  The calculus of hanging on to our one legit star changes a little when we have a lot of the kind of assets being offered.

...either way, too bad the Kings already traded their 2014 pick (lotto protected).

While I agree with this, I would hope this would be followed by some other deals over the next 12 months to move some of those picks for veterans to compliment the core of young players.

I think McClemore would be a very interesting prospect to bring in, and while I am not sold on Thomas being a star, he would be a very solid PG for the time being.

Need to know the specific of the draft picks first. But that's a pretty tempting package. Probably the best one we can get.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

I agree - there's no way we'd be using all those picks, I seriously doubt we'll use all the ones we have already.

I'm just wary of a major trade that requires making at least one more major trade in the near future to pay off. Especially when it's very uncertain what players will be available.

Trading a PG and SF for a PG two more SGs and another PF?

So the team make up will be

3 PGs
6 SGs
1 SF
5 PFs
1 C

I really have to think this is something being generated on the Kings side and is not something Danny can be looking at. You can only have so many SGs and PFs on one team.

the picks will likely be in the 20s because a rondo, gay, cousin core is likely a playoff team for the next 3 years

So it is really banking on thomas or mclemore becoming an all-star caliber player.

To me it doesn't really do much, unless mclemore is the real deal hmmmm

Well, this would be a deal for assets.  You would then look to balance the roster later.

The only thing I don't like about this deal is Thompson's contract, but I certainly prefer him over Wallace.  And Thornton would be very tradable, and a valuable asset next year as an expiring contract with some value on the court, to combine with some picks for an impact player.

1. Isaiah Thomas is a good point guard and he can shoot the ball. You start Crawford - Thomas is his checks and balances.

2. Mclemore has the chance to be a very, very good off guard.

3. You can use Thornton and Thompson in other trades

4. Two first round picks as well...

5. Brad Stevens teams have never been point dominant teams as far as I can tell.

6. Having that many good shooters available with intelligent inside players (Green, Sully and Olynyk) who can pass can make for a very difficult

7. Bass, Lee and a couple first round picks for Asik?

Asik / Faverani / Iverson
Sully / Olynyk / Jason Thompson
Green / Draft pick
Bradley / Mclemore (for now) / Thornton
Crawford / Isaiah Thomas / Pressey or whoever...

Mid level guy
Draft picks
Cap space...

You'd have to serious think about that trade

SG-SF and PF-C are pretty loosely defined. You could easily make the argument for Lee being a SF and Sully a C.

So you trade an impact player (who's easily retainable) for assets in the hopes to trade those assets for an impact player, who knows which and how good he'll be, assuming there's one available.

Honestly I don't see the merit. You stick with Rondo until a sure thing comes along.

Yeah - maybe a 3 way deal where we send Thornton and/or Thompson on their way?  I suspect Danny might try and pull this off as part of an initial deal, instead of needing another trade later.

Not interested without an unprotected '14 pick. Otherwise I'd strongly consider.

Pass.
It will take a lot for me to feel ok with Rondo trade.
now that PP is gone, Rondo is the Celtics identity, the face of the franchise.
