Via Hoops Rumors: The Raptors and Kings are discussing a deal centered on Rudy Gay, league sources tell Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc. J Spears of Yahoo Sports (via Twitter). Last month, it was reported that GM Masai Ujiri is exploring trade options for Gay and others with Jonas Valanciunas, 2011′s fifth overall pick, the only real untouchable of the bunch. Gay looks like the most obvious chip since he’s still capable of being a top scorer for a team and could be rental since he has a player option for 2014/15 that he could turn down in favor of a longer deal. With a $17.89MM salary, the Raptors will have to take some serious salary back in any trade.

Was just going to make a post on this

Still finalizing info who goes back to Raptors, but 3 players significantly discussed included Hayes, Vasquez and Patterson, sources say.

Interesting. What do the kings send out for Gay?

Also, how does Gay end up on the trading block on every team he's on?

I imagine it is expiring contracts (Salmons, Patterson) and an asset. Not much young talent there outside of D.Cousins that Toronto should have substantial interest in. Guessing it is a draft pick instead.

Expiring contracts + Kings 2014 first rounder would be a very attractive trade package.

Because he's a horribly inefficient offensive player and underperforms on the defensive end constantly.

Funny, not too long ago Gay had most people seeing superstar potential from him.

If this happens, fire up your Rondo-to-Sac trade ideas, because that's a team that wants to be competitive.

Simmons posted this idea a week ago:

Sacramento is a Rondo trade away from being legitimately fun. Rondo/Wallace for Salmons/Patterson/Jimmer/Hayes + 2014/2016 No. 1's... DONE!

I suppose Vasquez does make quite a bit of sense. Masai Ujiri was complaining about how badly the Raptors have been passing the ball and did not like that the team was last in the league in assists.

Vasquez had 9.0apg and led the league in total assists last year. Seems like he fits the bill. Although, I still think Kyle Lowry is a better PG.

Don't know what Toronto are thinking again..NBA needs to get rid of that team..Already have a starting PG in Lowry..why they need Vasquez
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

makes sense for Toronto. They can start Terrence Ross together with Derozan and not lose much from giving up Gay

Raptors realized they were too good so they traded their best player so they could suck more.
