I think it's a solid deal for Sacramento.
Gay is inefficient, and his shot selection, whew. We all know that. We also know he can drop 20 at any night, rebound the ball and play solid defense. He's a very bad 1st option, but probably a very good 2nd. Sacramento wants to be good right away, and while Gay would not put them up there, it's a solid start. They now have a very athletic and actually talented core. It's just a matter of Gay being efficient now.
On Toronto's side, I can't be more impressed. Getting salary relief and a backup plan in Vasquez in case Lowry walks. Ujiri is cleaning a very messy house, and he's doing a really great job.
