Now the question becomes,  does Toronto trade DeRozan next?

I'm sure they are trying. Kyle Lowry too.

Why would Toronto be interested in moving DeRozan?

Without knowing why they would, I've heard they have been. Could be idle speculation though.

Just don't see what interest they may have unless they're looking for a rookie scale contract player with lots of potential, so they're looking to see who bites.

Toronto are quite healthy at the moment financial wise, DeRozan is in a very manageable 9 mil per year contract, so very curious about the interest to move him.

Might be simply testing the waters to see what value he has around.

It's been said that Ujiri has been looking to clear Toronto's books of many vestiges of the prior front office, with the exception of Jonas V.

DeRozan's four years and $38 million is presumably the next item on Ujiri's agenda.

It just seems unnecessary to me, they have plenty of cap space going forward, and his contract is not at all poisonous.

we could win less than 30 games this year and possibly win the division and have home court in the first round of the playoffs.

is it possible to just have the draft lottery at allstar weekend this year??  then maybe at least 60% of the nba will actually want to win the last couple months of the year.

i know its mainly just the east, but David Stern should be embarrassed with his product so far this year

$9.5 per isn't too bad, but the Raptors aren't a team that makes the playoffs or sells out a ton of games during the year. I could see a line of logic to move DeRozan's deal, completely bottom out while also seeing what Terrence Ross can do with bigger minutes, and building around Valenciunas and their 2014 pick.

At some point you have to start retaining talent, moving DeRozan for the sake of moving him just is not smart, particularly at this point when you have a lot of financial flexibility.

Let's just say that this time is not the right time to make a decision on whether to move DeRozan or not, unless you find a deal you just can't say no to.

I think Ujiri don't hesitate to move him if he doesn't view him as a building. Its seems that the organization is committing themselves to Valanciunas for the long-term - all rumors and rumblings say he's the only untouchable on the roster.

I didn't say I think they should trade Derozan, but it definitely wouldn't surprise me and you can see the logic behind it.

Could we have interest in DeRozan? I don't know if he has superstar potential, but he can definitely score the ball (over 21 ppg this year) and he seems 'attainable' because of Toronto's desire to clean house. I know we have Avery and Crawford at the two, but at some point we are going to have to upgrade a couple of starter positions - center is certainly one of those, but a go to swingman would be huge for our future.

I'd trade Avery for DeRozan in a heartbeat.

Because he is a not-good player signed to a horrible contract by the previous GM.  Without Gay, he'll probably get more opportunity to chuck up shots and some team that doesn't realize that there is such a thing as a 20+ppg bad player will pounce on him because "Yay, points!"

So now the Kings should go all-in and trade for Rondo.

Rondo and Wallace for Thornton, Derrick Williams, Thomas, Fredette and multiple unprotected 1sts.   We dump Wallace's bad contract, gain a couple assets... Kings can ride dirty with PG Rondo, SG - Mclemore, SF - Gay, PF - Thompson, C - Cousins

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=k8zpl2m

If we could get 2014 and 2016 unprotected 1sts in the deal, I'd say go for it.
