I would say from a fantasy perspective, that Terence Ross and Derrick Williams benefit the most from this trade today.

Vasquez too. He was being wasted in Sacto

6:23pm: Along with Gay, Aaron Gray and Quincy Acy are also headed to the Kings, Wojnarowski tweets.

6:16pm: Rudy Gay has been pulled out of the lineup for tonight’s game and is headed to the Kings, league sources tell Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports (on Twitter).  Sacramento will send John Salmons, Greivis Vasquez, Patrick Patterson, and Chuck Hayes are headed north of the border.

I've been saying for a while that I expected Toronto to blow up their team and try to start without getting bogged down by the previous regime's bad deals.  I felt even stronger that Gay was going to be moved after he banned post-game stat sheets from being distributed in the locker room.

Ujiri suckered the Knicks into taking Bargnani and even to give up picks.  Now, he is getting something useful for Rudy Gay.  DeRozan and Fields are next.  I think DeRozan's contract could be worse than Wallace's.

Ujiri is the executive of the year, so far.

Can Gay help make Sactown a playoff team?

Can Gay help make Sactown a playoff team?

If they moved to the East, maybe.  Probably not gonna work over there.

He can help the Kings get Wiggins.

I know John Salmons is bad, but Gay is chucking so poorly I don't think he's helping anyone win. Last two years under .500 while shooting an awful lot.

Plus I saw a tweet about playing him as a stretch 4 or next to Derrick Williams, I'm not sure either is a good plan.

So weird, Gay used to be a respectable shooter. Now he can't hit much at all.

Not at all; just gets them closer to their goal of being more athletic.

Gay's a huge upgrade for Sacto at SF. I wonder what the dynamic will be like in that Kings locker room after this deal, how Gay and Cousins will get along. Kings aren't any closer to making the playoffs in the ultra-competitive West, but I think they did get better on paper in this deal.

Hayes is the only one of the four new Raptors with a guaranteed contract for next season. Vasquez has some value as a trade chip, and perhaps Patterson does too. A little surprised Ujiri didn't hold out for a pick, but beggars can't be choosers, I guess.

Anecdotal but I remember Gay as more of a spot up shooter and slasher when he was playing well.  Now it seems like he's much more iso-oriented and wants to play hero ball 8-10 times a game.  If he can get a coach that keeps him disciplined he could be effective again.

If this happens, fire up your Rondo-to-Sac trade ideas, because that's a team that wants to be competitive.

Simmons posted this idea a week ago:

Sacramento is a Rondo trade away from being legitimately fun. Rondo/Wallace for Salmons/Patterson/Jimmer/Hayes + 2014/2016 No. 1's... DONE!

Shocking that this would be your first thought.

Isaiah Thomas
Ben McLemore / Marcus Thornton
Rudy Gay
Carl Landry / Derrick Williams
DeMarcus Cousins / Jason Thompson

May not be a playoff team, but could be a pretty entertaining one. Lots of athleticism.

A frontcourt of Gay/D.Williams/Cousins is intriguing. If - and that's a big if - they could get those 3 on the same page, they could really have something. Add in McLemore's ability to spread the floor and you can see what Sacto is trying to do.

Now the question becomes,  does Toronto trade DeRozan next?
