Not his fault Oden and Roy couldn't stay on the floor.  Who knows how good the Blazers could have been if they were healthy.
this!
imagine Portland starting with
PG- Lillard
SG- Roy
SF- Battum
PF- Aldridge
C- Oden.

 ::)

No Lillard if they had Oden and Roy, right?

Lillard was drafted using the nets pick for the Gerald Wallace deal I believe so they still may have gotten him.  It wasn't because they had a poor record at least, which is what I think you are implying.

will never win you a championship.

This makes little sense to me. Yes, LMA can't will you to a championship alone, but who can? Not Durant, Rose, Howard, anyone really aside from LeBron James.

He's better than anyone aside from playoffs-engaged Rondo on our roster, and even then, he likely has more value because he's a legit 4/5.

Pseudo-star? Who's a star then, aside from LeBron, and maybe Dwight, Rose, and CP3? 3 years ago Wade?

Durant.

I see him.  I'm waiting.  Nope, I still don't see a ring.

Durant may one day get a ring...if he weren't so S-O-F-T.   The guy has all the toughness of a baby sucking it's thumb. I actually laugh when he tries to complain about something or act angry, it is genuinely amusing.

From a personality perspective he is Chris Bosh 2.0 "please don't hurt me".  The guy could average a triple double and capture the scoring title in the same season, I still couldn't respect or take him seriously.

Trouble is Oden was always hurt and a complete bust.

Humpries and Bass for Aldridge works on the trade machine..its going to be hard to get a top NBA FA to come to Boston so trades are the only way like KG and Allen
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I think LMA would have been traded by now if Oden had of been healthy. Those two didn't play well together. Oden's limited offensive game, like Dwight with P.Gasol, forced LMA to spend too much time away from the basket and limited LMA's utility offensively. Portland would have traded LMA for someone who fits better.

No Lillard either -- if B.Roy + G.Oden hadn't of gotten hurt.

Any one knows what Portlands plans are? Are they still in rebuild mode, or trying to make playoffs?

If they are looking for an expiring, I think we have a pretty good one in Humps. He's at 12 mill and most likely will play well this year because it s contract time. He has in the past. Portland could either let him walk for the extra money, or do an S&T for a player they really need.

I know people want to tank, but with the FA's that are coming out the next couple years, you add LA to this roster, its looking pretty good. Might interest some players to take a look. Especially if Stevens can get the current team to play well.

I could see this mostly because of the coaching hires. They are hiring to win. Maybe not next season, even with a good team theres going to be learning curves, but with in a couple.

Really have mixed feelings on the whole to tank or not to tank thyeorys....

Lebron James couldn't win one on his own either.  That's why he's in Miami now.

He wants Chicago, so I'm not sure how competive offers will be for him. Still, I'd try to swing a deadline deal for Humps' expiring + Avery + Sully.

A core of Rondo, Green, Aldridge would be nice.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

he did bring the Cavs to the Finals by himself...but yes, I agree, even the best player in the world need some sort of help...

and does anyone remember the Detroit Pistons? They were all pseudo stars weren't they?

http://www.csnnw.com/blog/blazers-talk/source-aldridges-rep-meets-olshey-talk-trade-scenarios

Apparently his camp has met with the Blazers to talk possible trade scenarios. LMA himself hasn't officially requested a trade, but he's definitely not opposed to the idea. Supposedly Portland is trying to swing for the fences with names like Noah, Love, Griffin, Horford, and Davis, and trading for draft picks will not be an option.

If I'm Chicago, I would absolutely consider trading Noah for Aldridge.

I'd argue that LBJ couldn't even do it. He didn't win until he joined up with a pair of allstars. It's hard to win a team game by yourself, no matter who you are.

I KNEW about the Wallace trade.

I was even talking up my rightfully-depressed-Blazer-fan friend about the trade.

Can't believe I forgot.
