If it were possible, would you do:
Aldridge to Boston
Bass and a first to Phoenix
Gortat, Lee, Sullinger, and a first (maybe two) to Portland

The first round picks would be stipulated to be the worst among the picks the Celtics possess in each of the years 2014-2016.

Would you rather keep Sullinger and Lee and just trade Bass and a first for Gortat?

I'd rather shoot for Aldridge with Gortat being the back-up plan.

Don't get me wrong, I like Gortat, but he's no LMA.

If that meant dealing Sully or whoever, so be it.

Players like Aldridge don't become available that often, you have to strike while the iron is hot.

Danny should go after him to add to Rondo.  I'd also like to see him make a move for Asik who's now the odd man out in Houston.

PG - Rondo
SG -
SF -
PF - Aldridge
C - Asik

That has the makings of a solid foundation.  Even after trading for LMA, the C's will still have assets in the cupboard.  I don't look at it as win-now necessarily but more of a shift towards winning in two-three years.

Reminds me of the Blazers with

G -
G - Brandon Roy
F -
F - Aldridge
C - Przybilla

I think the Phoenix 3 team trade is on the right track.  I don't see how we get Aldridge in a 2 team trade.  We just have the right mix of players to make them better at another position, and we are weak at Center.  We can't give them a SG better than Wes Matthews, and while Green is better than Bantum, they don't need both.  They have Hickson and Thomas Robinson at PF, so they don't need any of our glut of PFs.  We are not sending them Rondo because that would defeat the whole point, and they have two young PG anyway.  I can't see them going after draft picks when they have some young talent already, and one thing Portland has done alot of is draft players in the single digit picks!  Ask Portland how fun it is to tank!

Maybe get Houston involved with Asik going to Houston, Aldridge to us, some of our picks and salary to both.  Otherwise, Portland wants a stud we do not have.

Actually Hickson is in Denver now, so they could use an other PF. And Robinson hasn't proven to be a solid starter yet. I think he will shortly with playing time, but not quite yet.

But a Huston/Portland/Boston trade would work for all teams.

psuedo-star.

will never win you a championship.

But it helps with the foundation to bring  in the star that will.

Rondo/Green/Aldridge....Thats pretty good right there if your an FA looking to win.
Next to impossible to bring in Aldrdidge without giving up Green or Rondo.

I agree.  And it makes no sense for them to take on Green while already have Batum in place.

I think it would have to be a pretty complex deal... I'm going to start thinking about it.

this!
imagine Portland starting with
PG- Lillard
SG- Roy
SF- Battum
PF- Aldridge
C- Oden.

I think LMA would have been traded by now if Oden had of been healthy. Those two didn't play well together. Oden's limited offensive game, like Dwight with P.Gasol, forced LMA to spend too much time away from the basket and limited LMA's utility offensively. Portland would have traded LMA for someone who fits better.

No Lillard either -- if B.Roy + G.Oden hadn't of gotten hurt.
On March 15, 2012, the Portland Trail Blazers acquired Mehmet Okur, Shawne Williams and a future conditional first-round draft pick (the 6th pick) from the New Jersey Nets (now Brooklyn Nets) in exchange for Gerald Wallace.[18]

so they could have Lillard as well. 8)

I see a lot of posters saying trade Green there or Bradley. Do people realize that Portland has Nicolas Batum, an better younger version of Jeff Green, and Wes Matthews and CJ McCollum, a shooting guard and combo guard that might both be become better all around players than Bradley?

If Boston had a youngish big to exchange that Portland would be interested in then Maybe a trade could get done. But Sullinger missed half of last year and he's the only guy that Portland would have been interested in. If not for Sully's injury, if he had continued to progress, a Sully, Humphries and a 2014 draft pick may have gotten it done.

Now, I doubt there's a chance at getting LMA without getting a third team involved that might be willing to get rid of a player Portland covets but also doesn't covet Aldridge.

Exactly.  Portland is pretty set 1-3 with some young, high quality guys.  They would need an upgrade on one of those positions or a young quality big back.

I'm wondering if Detroit would be a possible 3 team trade centered around Aldridge going to Boston, Rondo to Detroit (as rumored), and one of Monroe/Drummond going to Portland.

The problem is I'm not sure if I want Aldridge that badly (or why he wants to come here) if Rondo isn't here.

I'm one of the biggest Parsons fans out there, but Batum is a clear upgrade from Parsons. Asik to Bass would be a definite downgrade, though. Even though Bass fits their team better, they're giving up way too much value just to fit a need.

http://www.csnnw.com/blog/blazers-talk/source-aldridges-rep-meets-olshey-talk-trade-scenarios

Apparently his camp has met with the Blazers to talk possible trade scenarios. LMA himself hasn't officially requested a trade, but he's definitely not opposed to the idea. Supposedly Portland is trying to swing for the fences with names like Noah, Love, Griffin, Horford, and Davis, and trading for draft picks will not be an option.

If I'm Chicago, I would absolutely consider trading Noah for Aldridge.
consider it?  I would do it without question.  I'd probably also make the trade if I'm Minnesota with Love (given his injury history, his unhappiness, etc.).  I'd consider it if I'm Atlanta for Horford as well.  No way do I move Davis for him or Blake unless Portland sweetens the deal (and I still might not).

What? Noah for Alridge...

Noah is the heart and soul of the team...

I would never ever if I was Chicago trade Noah for Alridge...
Yeah, but Aldridge is better than Noah and a far more complete player.  He is also what Chicago really needs with the deterioration of Boozer.

I proposed this in another thread, but I think it would work for both teams

Aldridge, Matthews

for

Sullinger, Bradley, Brooks, Melo (if they want), Humphries, 2014 Brooklyn 1st (top 16 protected or so), 2015 Boston 1st (lottery protected)
