Let me start by saying I have watched every Gonzaga game last season. Defensively he looks like Montross or Rick Smits, that is to say not good at all. He does not want it at all on defense he play's D like a seven foot two guard.

Offensively he was awesome. Once he got rolling early, he was on an absolute tear. The reason he will succeed  offensively  in the NBA is because he's seven feet with the total package. Shoots, passes, handle is outstanding, great high low passer, low post game, can shoot over you or go up and under. Not really explosive but will dunk in your face sometimes and will put back dunks often. Runs the floor very well in transition. And my favorite thinks he makes shot's close to the basket. Great overall shooting touch.

His weakness the first two years is he would never post up down low he really did fix the problem and posted up 22% of the time. He was nick named Olynyk the Clinic and if your a basketball Junkie watch this game against Santa Clara it's one of his best but then again he went 20 points or more twelve times. A lot of his games looked like this and when he get's rolling he doesn't miss often %.630 from the field and THE #1 most efficient scorer in the NCAA. He had an insane year.

We will really need a shot blocker to help Kelly. With 9 first rounders I think that's in the cards. But he will be a major part of the offense for years to come. watch this game if you have 30 Mins.

 http://youtu.be/BZU0ql5wJas it's broken up into 8 parts.

He'll never have the power post game of Tim Duncan. If you're going to compare him to HoF big guys go with Dirk.

That said, I don't believe he'll reach either.

Your first post, ain't that special. I'm not saying that he will ever be close to probably the best overall PF in NBA history. But I am trying to grab your attention by saying don't be surprised if he's a go to guy in two years.

I agree completely on the Power Post game he doesn't have the Strength or Length of Timmy. The reason I say Tim is because there fundamentals are both so sound.

I don't think that wild hyperbole is going to convince people of your point.

KO's efficiency was pretty amazing in college, though.  A .642 eFG% / .675 TS% is impressive, regardless of how weak your competition is.  I'll be curious to see how his shot is affected by stronger, faster, more athletic defenders.

Also Dirk is not a good comparison because he already has a much better post up and inside  game 1.5 points per play which I believe was also first in the nation.

Another thing about Tim as consistent as any big I've ever seen he's never been above 21.9 PPG. He's also only been under 18 ppg once which is impressive.

I think it is certainly possible that Kelly can have at least a couple seasons in the 18-22 ppg range once he gets acclimated. I think it will take a special defender to shut him down one on one.

Uncalled for Ronaldo. It's my opinion He's more talented on Offense than you realize. You better Red Neckonize his game!

Someone mentioned this in another thread I believe but I completely agreed with his comparision.

To me if you were going to compare him to an extremely good player from the past I think it would be Vlad Divac, limited quickness but makes up for it by being smart and incredibly skilled.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

This thread is ridiculous.  Tim Duncan?  22ppg?  You think Olynyk is going to be a top 10 scorer in the entire NBA?  A more realistic comparison is a pre-injury Raef LaFrentz without the shot blocking.

The thread is about his ceiling, not how good you actually think he is going to be. I'm sure the OP doesn't think he will be as good as Tim Duncan, just that the best possible scenario for Olynyk is Tim Duncan.

There is a huge difference between ceiling and what you think a player will actually do.

For it to be his ceiling, the possibility must exist that he reaches it.  And there is absolutely no possibility that he becomes Tim Duncan on offense or that he becomes a top 10 scorer in the entire NBA.

The category "ceiling" shouldn't be used to make ridiculous hyperbole beyond criticism.  Even potential should be subject to reality, not fanboy fantasies.

I'm not sure what is wrong with hyperbole, when talking about a player that hasn't played in the NBA. Does it really hurt anyone for someone to express an over ambitious opinion?
