Just doesn't make sense for Boston and its current makeup to sign Evans to a pretty big deal.  Evans is the type of player you add to an already established young team or to a veteran team that needs youth.  He would have been a great fit last summer, not this one.

Jrue, Tyreke, (potentially) Eric Gordon and Anthony Davis is a nice young nucleus, if a bit redundant at the two, which I assume means they're going to try and offload Gordon.

I agree, I was initially surprised by that Holiday trade. But if they can unload Gordon for an expiring contract, and then sign Evans, they will have Holiday/Evans/Vasquez in the backcourt, Lopez/Davis up front, and enough money (I think) to sign a max SF and maybe a stretch 4.

If Davis turns into a #1, Holiday and a top-tier SF will give them #2 and #3 pieces that could be championship level.

And who knows, if they somehow stink again next year they will get another top-5 pick in a loaded draft.

Well, the obvious option for a sign and trade would be Humphries.  He would actually be an upgrade at PF for Sacramento, and would allow us to take back a large salary for Evans.

It also would be an interesting option as part of a Rondo trade (I don't think Rondo and Evans would be a good fit together).

The other option, is make a sign and trade part of the Nets trade.

He's 23, so he's a young asset that will improve once he is on a less crappy franchise. He's exactly what we need. An asset that will help us now and increase in value as he gets older.

Seems to me the Celtics are trying to be a more crappy franchise right about now. After 4 years in Sactown, I wonder if Evans really wants to be part of yet another 5 year rebuild project? It is, after all, his choice where he wants to be signed and traded too.

We all love to talk about these sign and trades and sometimes don't even think about what the player would want given he gets to chose where he goes. For instance, I thought I saw a Tweet saying Evans wouldn't go anywhere where the team is thinking of playing him at the SF position, regardless of the money.

Please no. If Tyreke is getting paid eight digits, that's not a good sign for this offseason's free agency. Once one player is wildly overvalued like that, it increases the market value of everyone else.

He is a restricted free agent.  Most GMs understand that if someone hands Tyreke Evans a big offer sheet, the intention is to make it so huge that Sacramento won't match.
