Evans is a good player but what are they thinking giving out that money to a guard when they have Vasquez, Gordon, Holiday, and even Rivers.

They are probably better off taking a risk on Bynum. If Bynum and Davis lived up to their potential, they could actually be a very good team, especially with that backcourt.

Maybe they plan on moving Gordon?

Pelicans must be confident about finding someone to take Eric Gordon off their hands.

can we trade 3 of our 50 shooting guards for him in a sign and trade?  maybe toss in one of our 30 power forwards

(keep Bradley though, natch)
Just doesn't make sense for Boston and its current makeup to sign Evans to a pretty big deal.  Evans is the type of player you add to an already established young team or to a veteran team that needs youth.  He would have been a great fit last summer, not this one.
He's 23, so he's a young asset that will improve once he is on a less crappy franchise. He's exactly what we need. An asset that will help us now and increase in value as he gets older.
What exactly does Boston accomplish signing him to a big contract though?  He will help Boston win some games, but that isn't exactly a good option at this point.  Sure if he gets you a couple of wins and you are at 50, great signing, but on a team that will be lucky to win 30 games, you don't want to add guys that will help you win to big contracts unless they are a franchise type player.  Tyreke is not that guy.  It is silly for Boston to sign him with the current makeup of the roster.  Last summer would have been the perfect time because he might have been able to help the team give it one (or two) more runs (pre-Rondo injury of course).  Now just a waste of 40 million dollars.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Sidenote--if the Thunder are left at the altar by Kevin Martin then the Harden Trade becomes even more of a head-slapper.

I always thought the idea was to rent Martin for a year and groom Lamb to replace him.  I think the real backfire was Toronto becoming decent after trading for Gay.

Yuck, even uglier. I get that Evans is still young and finally showed some improvement last year, but still... if he's getting paid $11M, I don't want to know what guys like Smith and Jefferson are getting paid. The more and more free agency drags out, the more and more I think the C's should stay spectators...

Per @SeanDeveney Tyreke would be used as a sixth man like Manu Ginobili.

I like Evans more than I do Big Al. I think he's equal in terms of position, but has far great upside.

Hope Boston doesnt offer Evans anything close to that and therefore doesnt play with Boston next year.

Tyreke Evans to Pelicans is one of the best case scenarios for his destination.

He would add the pelicans to the list of the Timberwolves, Trail Blazers, Cavaliers, Jazz, Hawks Lakers, Mavericks, Pistons, Raptors and Wizards

Seeing the numbers flying around for free agents this year, maybe Danny better just stay out of free agency and sign and trades and let the market play itself out. 10 teams had over $10 million in cap space this year, I think I read that somewhere.

Let them all spend like crazy and tie up their payrolls. Then maybe when all the teams see the overspending happening there will be a market correction in the future when Danny has the money to spend.

Now reports are saying the offer is potentially for $48M, which would be $12M per year. Regardless, incentives in the contract guarantees that Tyreke will cash in around the $44-$50M range. Absolutely absurd.
