Wow... when it was first reported it said Philly sent out Holiday and a 2014... but it was the other way around:

Quote
The New Orleans Pelicans traded center Nerlens Noel and a 2014 protected first-round pick to the Philadelphia 76ers for point guard Jrue Holiday, league sources told ESPN.com.

WOW... Seriously?  Wow.   I know Holiday has more trade value than Rondo, but that's insane... the best player in the draft + a 2014 for a 23 year old PG.  As Noel was slipping I was like, "Trade Rondo and the #16 for him!! trade Rondo and the #16 for him!!"... and yet Holiday fetches Noel AND a 2014 pick from the Pelicans?  Holy crap.  DEFINITELY trade rondo if he has anywhere NEAR the kind of trade value that Holiday has.

Starting this year, Holiday gets paid nearly as much as Rondo does. Sure, he's injured now, but when he returns, Rondo's trade value is going to absolutely stomp all over Holiday's, and it won't even be close.

Let's say you're an NBA GM. You're telling me that for the same money, you would rather pay Jrue Holiday to play for your team rather than Rajon Rondo?

Yes... both are all-star point guards.   One is 23 years old without a torn ACL.  The other is 27 years old with a torn ACL, serious flaws in his offensive game and a frequently reported attitude problem.

That is a sensible argument.

I just believe that when Rondo is right and in attack mode he is significantly better than Holiday. However, games like this for Rondo are not a consistent thing.

To me it's the question of would you rather have a player who will more often than not give you a B level output or a player that will give you some A performances but also some C performances.
DKC:  Rockets

All all-stars are not equal.  Rondo, when healthy, has been a substantially better player than Holiday.

One is 23 without any outstanding skill.

If Atlanta is involved, I'd think we'd be trading Rondo to play with a re-signed Josh Smith and they hope the FA Dwight Howard. What the C's would get would be multiple draft picks and *maybe* a prospect, but the Hawks really don't have much they could send other than picks.

I don't think Danny is interested in getting Smith *for* Rondo, nor would the Hawks be interested in that.

But he has many skills that are fringe-outstanding.

17.7 ppg, 4.2 rpg, and 8.0 apg. That's pretty good for a 23 year old.

I like Holiday, I just like countering Larbrd's nitpicking more. Genuinely interested if Holiday with the NOPe ( heh, just figured this out) means Gordon or Vasquez is gone.

I think you're better off waiting until the draft to do a Rondo deal. Rondo has time to build up his trade value and you have certainty as to the draft order.

Only thing that scares me is that some of his warts could come to the forefront. He's always been surrounded by shooters and good scorers, so now the onus is on him to shoulder more of the offensive burden. How is he going to handle all the losing? How we adapt to a new coach/system? All this without the veteran leadership that probably helped reel him in over the years.
