I'm all for rebuilding (if you force me to) but tanking is where I draw the line. I am sure everyone realizes you can have worst record by a landslide and you still only have a 25% chance of landing the top pick. If you land the top pick, there are no assurances that player becomes a franchise cornerstone.

It's not a given that Wiggins even declares for the draft next year. So we tank thinking he's available and for some reason he decides to go back for his sophmore year. I hate to put all our eggs in one proverbial basket ('14 draft).

History should tell us that tanking is just not a good option, especially for us. (e.g. '97/'07)

Who said this is the strategy? Do you know more than we do?

I'm not saying that is the strategy, I am just giving my 2 cents to those that either 1) infer that is the strategy going forward and/or 2) are begging that that be the strategy

So, I've been away since I posted on page 1 of the thread.

Is this proposed deal really KG and Pierce (and possibly JET or Lee) for Gerald Wallace, filler, and 3 future 1sts?

If so, that's horrible.

I wonder if we would see an improved G-Wallace if/when he gets away from Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez. Three high usage offensive players. Didn't leave a lot for Wallace to work with.

Personally, I'd assume it's those things except:

Ainge is asking King to take a bunch of salary to offset Wallace (meaning more than just one of Terry, Lee and Bass), and;

Ainge would be getting back a couple more players. Teletovic (who he coveted in the last PP discussion with BKN), Brooks and / or Shengelia.

Like this with picks:

Not saying he'll end up there, but worth trying...

Would like to see how would Rondo and Humphries get along after the incident they had.

Probably.

His effort was there most of the time, playing with the Nets was very frustrating for him.

I still don't think he'd be anywhere near that cotnract's value.

In a manic small-ball squad like the one we'd probably be fielding after the proposed trade I could see him putting up better stats.  According to 82games, he doubled his rebounding and increased his scoring by 25% at PF vs. his production at SF.

As an aside, what is NJ thinking with this deal by giving up all of their future firsts?

They're thinking late first-round picks are worthless.  (They aren't.)  This is a team that has traded away every second-round pick through 2017, so it is not shocking that they are wrong about the value of picks.

Seems like rondo had incidents like that with most of his teamates over the years

Man, some people really need to get perspective.  Yeah, Wallace's deal is terrible but how much better a trade do you think is out there?

KG, PP for Wallace, Teletovic, Humphries, 3 picks is not really good.

KG, PP, and Lee

for

above package + Reggie Evans is a little better.

By including Lee and Evans, they are taking on about 6 mil more in salary than they are giving out.  Lee has two year longer on his deal than Humphries, so in 2 years, they are likely to be still paying Lee and KG and PP will retire.  Humphries will be off our books.  The other contracts are manageable.  Wallace's deal isnt great, but he could be moved to a contender at the deadline or next offseason.

I guess the key to me would be can we get a 2016 pick out of them?  It would be a year after KG and PP are likely to retire and JJ will be certainly washed up by then.  Might be a pretty good pick.

Maybe they would give their 2014, 2016, and whatever pick they get for Marshon Brooks this year.
