I definitely think Doc is going to announce that he is staying and spread water on all of the fire that has gone on the past few days. If he were going to leave the team, I don't think he would do it so quickly [in such a reactionary way].

But the longer he stays silent while all this negative stuff is floating around, the more damage it does to his character...He clearly has put a bit of a damper on his tenure with the Celtics at this point.  He is def an established coach and can pretty much get any job basketball-related he so desires, but the longer this carries on, the worse it looks on his part.  He may just want to get it over with and allow the 'healing process', so to speak, begin.

We'll all see what happens lol

Someone in this forum is going to be correct about his decision may be..whether it be he stays, goes, or doesn't have any clue what's going to happen...someone here will be right.

Doc will say he is coming back.

No way should he pass up on $21 million. That would be idiotic.

I am going to stick my neck out and say that Doc and Danny meet...Doc says this is what we agreed on when I extended and Danny relents ...pays Paul ---and Doc, KG and PP get another shot with healthy players and a back-up point guard available and we make a run>  The eternal optimist!

I'll be very disappointed in Danny and Wyc if the agree to have Doc come back, assuming that's what Doc wants.

The Boston Celtics should be the #1 choice for whoever their head coach is.  If you aren't thrilled to be here, then leave.  I'll take an unproven coach who is amped up to do the best job he can over an established coach who preferred another destination enough to let it be known publicly and actually try to get traded there.

If Danny is at a point where he's conceding his own plans for the team over the desire of the coach / players, he should just resign and let somebody else take over.

But I don't think that's going to happen.

A lot of damage has been done here.  It's like trying to take back a girl that's cheated on you.  It's never going to be thesame no matter how hard to try to act like nothing happened.  It'll be best for Doc to take time off for a while.

God people are overreacting about this SO much. DANNY WAS THE MASTERMIND BEHIND THE TRADE - TO JUMPSTART THE REBUILD. HE SAID THIS HIMSELF. THERE IS NO ANIMOSITY BETWEEN DOC AND THE CELTICS ORGANIZATION

Don't know who called a press conference-if this is what it is- but my guess is that you wouldn't call one if you are planning to stay.  My guess is that Doc will say his goodbyes.

He'd say he's leaving but he won't bc of the $$$. If the C's said they didn't want him back, Doc would be in line for some type of severance payment, correct?

I'd personally rather move on. It would have been great to get a pick, one pick, for letting Doc go elsewhere. Now, he'll likely stay and still be half in half out and coaching in a manner that annoys me. I like the guy as a players coach, but just don't think he's great at a lot of the other stuff.

But, Doc has never let that publicly be known.  He hasn't gone on the record about what he wants to do or where he wants to be during the course of this whole Clipper drama.

I'm going to wait to hear what he has to say before making any judgments.

It should be coming soon.

Hopefully Doc will resign, KG will retire, and Pierce will be bought out and Danny will have learned a tough NBA lesson. That things don't always work out.

It is better than having to pay Deandre Jordan over 10 million for 3 years. That is for sure.

OK I am being bitter here. I hope that they give this team another chance and that starts with re-affirmation that Doc will coach the team and Pierce will be brought back to finish his career. Danny loaded up for two more years of title fishing and this is year two. The Rondo and Sullenger injuries killed us and KG and Pierce suffered wear and tear from having to carry the load too much, again.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

That would be a good outcome for the C's.  I think there's a fair chance Pierce could be traded, maybe for a pick and trade exception, however, and Doc is almost certain to want to coach again in the next three years, for which the C's would also get a pick.

if ainge and wyc tell doc to not come back, wont the team be on the hook for doc's $7,000,000 a year for the rest of the contract? as long as they are paying doc, i expect that they expect him to be coaching.

i hope doc simply moves out to the broadcast booth now. it may take a buy out, but that is cheaper and allows the celtics to bring in a new coach for a new era.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Exactly.  It would be very, very expensive to fire Doc right now.
