There's rumblings that Doc was advising the Clips on what to send to the Cs. That he wanted to coach Bledsoe and that he didn't want too much in future assets being traded away.

If that's the case, it's very disloyal to Boston. Doc and KG for Jordan and two firsts was fair to both clubs.  As with the sweetener of them taking Terry or Lee for Butler's expiring deal.

I can understand how Doc would want his neat team to have as many arrows in it's quiver as possible, but fleecing your old team as they give you your freedom from coaching a rebuilding team while setting you up on a top contender in a huge media market is being an ingrate.

If that's true Doc is a backstabber and that's pretty jacked up. I did read that he was playing both sides.

If this deal is completely dead, it'll suck not to be able to watch KG and possibly Pierce team up with great players in LA but the Clippers were nuts if they thought two low first round picks plus an overpaid center was "too much."  When you can massively upgrade both your offense and defense as well as guarantee that your franchise player and future HOF will re-sign, how do you not do that?  It's ridiculous.

If Doc was one of the reasons why the Clippers wouldn't upgrade their lowball offer, well screw him.  I hope this means he's not coming back to the Celtics because his coaching has tormented me the past few seasons.

I still dont see how Doc can possibly come back but it sounds like he still is in favor with the Celtics organization
Its just the fan base that is gonna have a hard time with it.

Ainge has two options. Hope KG hangs it up, get rid of Pierce and go into rebuild mode like he wants to. Or, he runs it back with our roster as constituted and watch our team flame out in the first or second round of the playoffs again.

I said it a couple of times already but I will say it again.

According to Grande and Max's podcast, Doc doesnt want to leave. He wanted to go at it again with the rest of the guys but Danny insists on rebuilding, and Doc wanted no part of it so they explored their options.

If that's the case, then it tells me that Doc is outside of not wanting to rebuild, is loyal to his guys and he thinks they can still make a run next year. I don't see that being a problem when he comes back.

If true, we cant fault Doc for being loyal to his best players. This helps make a coach and franchise desirable to play for. After all, nobody wants to play for a Pitino in the pros(sorry could not resist). I admire a coach that fights for his players.

This whole thing is here say. No one has a clue if it is true or not. I'm very happy that Doc and KG are finally coming back. Let Pierce come back or trade him to get Josh Smith. The next call we should give the Clippers is after CP3 decides to check out offer up Rondo for Paul. That should be the real revenge

If the Clippers thought they had all the leverage here, they couldn't be more foolish.  Stepping away from Jordan and a late first round pick is not that agonizing a decision.  There is more urgency and pressure for the Clippers to settle this deal than the Celtics.  There is no way Ainge is going to come back and take their offer.

Dog, you have no idea what actually happened. You really need to chill out with these comments cause its borderline rediculous. Doc is a great guy and a great father. Some of the nonsensical grudges people on this board hold are so childish.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Well now Doc leaves, KG retires and Pierce is moved.
We just don't get any assets now which would've been nice.
Woulda been nice to see KG in the NBA for two more years.
Perhaps the Mavs will take Pierce.

I'm assuming that Danny will pick up the phone but the ball is in LA's court now.
CP3 could be super peeved. We shall see in the next few days.

Just sucks to go through that and now lose KG and Doc for nothing. What's the point?
Maybe Danny will call them up and offer one last time in a few days after cooling off.

Farewell Doc, Farewell KG.
Sorry it had to end this way.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

Read that last line again. One more time.

Theres also no any ource that says Doc said he wants out of Boston and coach the Clips instead.

People seem to overreact to much. This is not Ray Allen leaving us.

Doc wanted to run it again (according to Grande and Max, see I have a source) but Danny wants a rebuild and he did not want any part if it. It breach of contract but he anything but a traitor (if those reports are accurate).

Clippers refused to give additional 1st-round pick, but ultimately $35M extension for Rivers and $3M-plus Jordan trade kicker played part.

So if Sterling really refused to put up the money for Doc's contract and Jordan's trade kicker...

One question I have then is how does a guy like Jordan even end up with a trade kicker in the first place?  Maybe I'm just not in the loop, but those things don’t seem too common to me.  Similar to a no trade clause, sure a few people have them, but they’re mostly superstars or old vets looking for some security.  Was it something that GS offered when they signed him to the offer sheet that the Clips had to match?

Found a list of players with trade kickers from 2012 that leaves me scratching my head. Guys like Amir Johnson, Luke Walton, Jermaine O’Neal, and Quentin Richardson have trade kickers when 95% of the league doesn’t, including just about all of the current mega stars (LeBron, Dwight, Durant, Rose, Paul, Rondo, Carmelo, etc.).

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

It was part of the offer sheet.

What the hell do #Celtics, Clippers do now? Remains to be seen--after Doc says he needs time to think, Clips learn what #CP3 thinks of this

If CP3 wants the deal done bet it gets done by the end of the day. I don't think it's over yet.

If at least most of what has been reported is true, then the Clippers may have just made one of the dumbest moves in the history of the NBA. They could have assured that Chris Paul remains with the team while at the same time getting one of the league's best coaches and best players and elevating the team to legit contender status—a status that would likely have further been solidified with the eventual addition of Paul Pierce—but they refused to pay the required price, which, in my opinion, wasn't all that much.

Well done, L.A.

I'd still be willing to part with Doc, KG, and Pierce if it was for a good return, and I'm also willing to see them come back. Mostly, I'm just glad right now that Danny didn't go through with this crap deal.
