Clippers refused to give additional 1st-round pick, but ultimately $35M extension for Rivers and $3M-plus Jordan trade kicker played part.

God they are so cheap. If I'm CP3 you just soured me on the entire organization.

Wow, the Clippers don't do a deal that could set them up to win titles because Don Sterling is too cheap.

As Clippers-Celtics talks fall apart, several sources tell Y! that Clippers had "cold feet' on the financial payouts needed to close deal.

And there is the Woj Bomb.  Clippers to cheap to close deal.

Sterling's never struck me as a guy who's been very concerned about owning a winning basketball team.

The fact that it was the Clippers that walked away from this deal is INSANE to me. 2 late picks that would never break your rotation most likely, and a center who has some skills but has a hard time cracking your playoff rotation.

Wow.

I full expected it was gonna be Ainge to walk away first.

Ainge should have walked away when they didnt want to give away Bledsoe.

This is hilarious. Clippers lay an egg of epic proportions. I thought at least one of the deal was fair.

I guess that meant they didn't want to pay Jordan's kicker?

DA has told Doc he wants him back and the deal is dead.

This will p--- off the fantasy BB fans, but I hated giving a LA team a potential crown for scraps.

Danny Ainge has called Doc Rivers to tell him that talks are done, sources tell Y! Sports. Ainge told him he still wants him as coach.

BTW for your perusal here is the link posted earlier from the Clips site boasting about what a great negotiator their GM is:

Wow. I'm shocked that it was the Clippers that walked away. I really thought they would have been putting together a legit championship contender for a year or two and instead barring some major moves, are probably going to be having 1st/2nd round exits the next two years.

Bledsoe is going to bring in some real solid talent most likely, but nothing at KG's level, not to mention what they get in terms of Doc's coaching (they'd have a PG/PF focused system, his bread and butter) and then most likely Pierce as well on either the MLE or Vet minimum.

Really curious to see where they go now. No way Bledsoe can bring in the talent they need to beat the Heat/Spurs/OKC unless they fleece another team hardcore.

If I had to guess I would say that Doc's $35 contract extension played a bigger part in it. That's a lot of money for a guy who's going to keep his "beautiful black body" in a suit on the sidelines.

Cheap owner FTW.

The Clippers should say goodbye to Chris Paul, he's out that door with that move they just did.

Excellent. The Clippers seemed to think that Ainge would blink.  The deal essentially was the same from last week.  Either Bledsoe or take back salary.  Ainge then  compromised with just the inclusion of a 2nd first rounder.  They balked at even that.

Somehow,  I think Sterling will be buried in a cheap piano box and insulated with 100 dollar bills.
