If the deals I'm reading are true I hope we walk away. I'd rather have Doc in the booth, KG retire and PP get waived than get swindled by LAC and end up stuck with DJ's bad contract and a late round pick...

I'd way rather have the capspace and tank for Wiggins...

The Clippers are as close as you get to buying a trip to the Finals. I can't believe we're not getting more.

It doesn't make sense.  The Celtics are sending KG, Doc, Terry and Paul to get back Jordan and a late first round pick?  This is only possible if the Clippers are sending back Griffin.  They can contend with Paul, Terry, Crawford, Pierce, KG and Jordan.

I liked Bill Simmons idea of sending Pierce to Cleveland for picks and a trade exception, using the exception and Bradley to get Josh Smith in a s&t.

Source close to Doc said whole situation getting complicated and Doc still grappling with decision #celtics
In other words......Celtics might now not just release Pierce so he can sign with the Clippers so Doc isn't sure he wants to go to LA now. The whole plan was for all three to end up in LA but maybe since the C's can't get Bledsoe, they have decided to screw with the whole plan and now don't care where Pierce ends up. Maybe they trade Pierce for cap release to anyone who might just keep him.

The way the Clippers are trying to jerk us around that would almost make me happy. The problem is that I don't want to send off Pierce to some weak team with no chance of winning. The Clippers are trying to screw us in this deal. They won't give up anything while trying to gain the world.
I say blow them off and give them a BIG middle finger out the door and good luck trying to keep CP3 happy. DJ and Bledsoe didnt get them nowhere last year.

If we go through this process to get the veterans out of a town to go young, then turn around and move one of our best young assets to sign someone who won't push us over the top to a near max contract I'm going to have violent convulsions.

This can't really be true.

The more details I'm reading, it just keeps on getting worse and worse...and worse for Boston.

Thank god I don't have to work tomorrow so I can drown my sorrows tonight courtesy of cheap microbrews.

I really hope Danny walks away right now. The Clippers think they have all the leverage and maybe they do, but they still have to worry about re-signing Paul.

We aren't getting a good enough deal back right now to make it worth our while (unless KG and Doc are both leaving anyway). I'd rather leave this deal now and let them stew over it for a few days.

I think there is a good chance they come back in a few days with a better offer, Chris Paul is obviously interested in playing with KG and for Doc I don't think Hollins/Shaw and whatever else they might be able to get back for Bledsoe/Jordan will be as good as KG.

Walk away Danny. Walk away.

I don't think the clippers have all the leverage.  Clippers can't just get Doc without the deal.  Doc + KG at least makes CP3 feel better about re-signing.  If I am DA I back away from the table for a few days and see if the clippers will add bledsoe back to the deal.  If so, take it.  If not, let doc and KG retire, and do what you will with PP.

this

I'd rather send KG and Doc off to retirement and waive Pierce then hand them to the Clippers for basically nothing.

Not sure this is even possible. When trading an exception, I think the exception has to be traded for a player that fits into the exception and not combine it with another player's salary to trade for a bigger salary. Not 100% sure but pretty sure.

What's a cheap microbrew? Is that comparable to a premium bud light?
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

At this point for me its not even entirely about the return we'd be getting thats putting me off. Obviously I'm not ecstatic about DJ, some cap flexibility and a late first, but thats not the worst return we could get back.

I just don't like the idea that the Clippers are staring us down and not budging and we are going to cave (for the most part).

Maybe its stupid, but its the principal of the matter,  I don't want to get taken advantage of. I'd rather walk away and leave them hanging than do a deal this favorable to them.

Let them try and convince CP3 to sign there another way. Find a better Coach than Doc. Find a better front court guy than KG by trading Jordan/Bledsoe. I don't see it happening.

The Cavaliers should be far enough under the cap to acquire Pierce while giving back little to no salary in return, thus generating a trade exception for Pierce.  If the Celtics trade Pierce to the Cavs for no salary, the Celtics get a $15 million trade exception.

The question is - why would a below .500 young Cavaliers team spend $15 million on a 35 year old Paul Pierce?  The Celtics would have to give up picks to make that trade happen, not the Cavaliers.

Yeah, you can't combine a TE and player salary.

But if the TE is big enough, you could send out Bradley in a simultaneous, but technically separate deal to Atlanta, I think.
