Celtics are waiting to hear from Clippers on a couple of options that would give Boston payroll flexibility in Doc Rivers deal, sources say.

Catching up here.  Disappointed that Bledsoe appears to be off the table.  Yesterday I saidit would be good rebuild start if we can get DJ, EB and a #1.
DJ, Butler, and #1 for KG, Lee, and  Terry is OK but I'd prefer not.

DJ and #1  for KG shoudl be a 'no'.

The Doc loss is significantly mitigated by a good new hire -- SVG, JVG, Hollins or Shaw.

Pierce, kg and doc for Blake and Caron.

Is what you want or a development?
Griffin is not part of the talks with the C's.

We're not getting Griffin, we're unlikely to get Bledsoe....

I would prefer two draft picks over one pick and Jordan, to be honest.

Butler, Green, 2 picks for KG and Doc?
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

For Celtics, motivation to do deal goes beyond moving Garnett contract and another multi-year deal (Terry or Lee), sources say.

I wonder what he is getting at....

Nevermind he just answered the question for me

LAC aren't giving up Blake for anyone on the Celtics.

Doc only goes if Danny says so. KG only goes if Doc goes. PP only goes if KG and Doc go. Is like dominoes and Danny does not really have to do anything unless he thinks it will help the team. If Doc and KG stay and PP get bought out, he may well go to the Clips; but KG is still under contact as is Doc.

I really don't understand why some Celtics fans hate this trade. This team is in a clear decline. Its time to make some changes, and Doc doesn't want to be apart of that.

DeAndre Jordan, Eric Bledsoe and a 1st round pick is what I'd be happy with. For an aging Kevin Garnett and a COACH. I'll take it.

You're missing the part where there seems to be no chance Bledsoe is in the deal, which kind of kills it.
I think the Clips will eventually give in. Chris Paul will re-sign in Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett land in LA for sure. Not to forget, most likely Paul Pierce, and even, though its slim Ray Allen.

Its unrealistic for the Clips to trade Eric Bledsoe to cross town rivals the Lakers for Dwight Howard, which is why there hanging onto him.

Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and KG will attract attention and make them a contender with Doc Rivers leading the way. They have to add other pieces around them to become a contender.

That they like Jordan and a draft pick.

Or that it frees them up to move Pierce for pieces, who knows.

I like this team on paper. Very young and promising. Obviously we need to add pieces, via free agency and the draft.

Free agents like Tony Allen, Earl Clark, and Al Jefferson could be good additions to this team. I like Al Jefferson and Tony Allen, both guys were here before and loved to play here.

As for a coach, you MUST sign Brian Shaw. Under study to Phil Jackson and was with Indiana this past season, who gave the Miami Heat a run for their money in 7 games in the Easter Conference Finals with a young team as well.

Part of the issue is salary.  This isn't baseball (where there is no salary cap) or football (where you can cut players), so something is not always better than nothing.  Ainge has to consider whether the salary he's taking on in a trade is more valuable than the salary space he potentially could have by not making a trade.

This kind of report is a little depressing.  Looks like Butler gets included with Lee and/or Jet going.  Maybe a good move in the long run but not very exciting -- no assets other than DJ and the pick.

A full blow up?

That would go beyond the Clips though.

I wonder what kind of flexibility we could get out of this.

Clearing our role players on mid sized contracts makes rebuilding a lot easier.
