Bledsoe had been in Celtics-Clippers discussions until Saturday morning, league sources tell Y! Boston won't do deal without him.

Good news, I suppose.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA 1m
Within Celtics, this process has never grown acrimonious between management and Doc Rivers. At $7M per season, he remains the coach.

Not-so-good news.

The clippers are trying to trade Bledsoe and Griffin for Dwight Howard...

the plan is to have Chris Paul, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Dwight Howard with Doc Rivers as coach.   The reason they are refusing to include Bledsoe is because they need him for the Dwight trade.

Yeah but apparently the Lakers are having none of that. They don't want to send Dwight to LAC only for them to go on to win a championship. I think we need to hold out for the Clippers to start getting worried about resigning CP3.

If they can't get Dwight they'll be more willing to deal Bledsoe.

Would the Lakers rather see Dwight bail on them and leave them with nothing... or get back Blake Griffin and Eric Bledsoe.  Methinks they'd rather get back Blake and Bledsoe.

Well Woj is saying that every indication from the Lakers is that they are not interested in helping LAC no matter what.

High stakes poker by all teams concerned.  It's going to be a very interesting week.

When we are talking about a team owner who wouldn't hire his own soon to be brother in law to coach the team because of petty stuff, you have to assume he won't let the team that shares his building get the guy he's still insisting he was right to trade for.  I'm not saying they won't trade Dwight, it just will not be to the Clippers.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.

Well we arent competing and KG and Pierce want a shot at a title. They cant get that with us unfortunately so their best chance is to go to LA. KG wont play without Pierce so why not let them go play for the Clippers and let them hand it to the Lakers for a few years while we rebuild. Doc knows Danny well enough that Danny will rob the Clippers in any deal because he knows the Clippers are desperate to keep Chris Paul.
Meanwhile we get some decent young, solid assets and some first round picks to go along our already nice collection of young assets in Bradley, Green, Sully, Rondo etc...
We would have to tank next tear but then we'd hopefully pick up either some serious talent in the draft AND have cap room to re-sign Rondo and some free agents within 2 seasons.
In a perfect world we'd have;
Rondo
Green
Sully
Bradley
Jordan
Bledsoe
3 first round picks
Melo

With roughly 30 million in caproom AND a shot at Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker or Julius Randle.
Its not unrealistic to think that in 2015 when Marc Gasol and Klay Thompson (among others) are free agents, we'll have the caproom and a top 3 draft pick.
Thats obviously a perfect world but its very possible.
Think about hiw valuable guys like Green, Jordan and Bledsoe will be in 2 years time playing with Rondo....
Hell we could even trade Rondo and D Jordan for another top 5 pick in 2014 if it came to it....
Doc is helping us in a rebuild by going to LAC.
Much betger than keeping him and dwelling in 7th or 8th spot for 3 more years and fade into further mediocrity.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Man, with insight like that you should be on ESPN insider. If Doc doesn't go to the clippers he needs to stay

The Clippers are crazy if they think that they are going to wax Danny like this. Jordan and 2 picks (late first rounders) for KG and Pierce is horrible returns IMO. What about Houston or GS? I really hope Danny doesn't settle on Jordan.

CLippers are trying to throw together a team of Chris Paul, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Dwight Howard and Doc Rivers as a coach.

That will be depressing to see.  Too bad we can't trade for Cp3 and Dwight.

How would you react if that Clippers team won a title?

Doc is a front running coach. I'm sure VDN could "coach" that group to a finals appearance

I present the 2011-2012 NBA playoffs, against Memphis, when VDN forgot to sub Chris Paul back into the game as the team was steadily losing their league.

Hate on Doc all you want, but he's a clear cut above VDN.

where have you been? the Celtics team ALWAYS loses leads and Doc makes very questionable decisions. Always.

Sure Doc is a cut above, but my point is that a team of CP3, Blake, D Howard and KG would probably win a title, on paper, all day, regardless of the coach. I could dangit coach that team to the finals. You kiddin me?

The Celtics don't lose leads because their best players are on the bench.

My point is that, next to the X's and O's, one of the biggest responsibilities that a coach has to the team is a smart rotation and a reasonable ability to enforce that within the team. It's why the Spurs chucked Steven Jackson before the playoffs, why we got rid of Glen Davis, and part of the reason VDN hasn't advanced beyond the first round as a coach.

I personally think Danny Ainge highly covets Bledsoe because he wants to showcase him as a high quality starting point guard.

That means I think he is going to deal Rondo to get really good value for him in order to give Bledsoe all of the minutes at the point.

If Bledsoe proves himself to be a potential all star quality PG with all those minutes, Ainge could also look to deal him or try and sign him long term.

Well, Rondo likely won't be back until Christmas. ACL is typically a year when unrushed and the Cs would be morons to rush rajon back. Especially if they do this deal.

Showcase E-Bled for a couple months or more and see what he can fetch around the February deadline.

Rivers is a low down scum sucker,     well, how about helping the team you are committed to Doc?      instead he is trying to build a championship team in another city ,  ALL the while he is under contract in Boston.......

no way Rivers should be allowed back in Boston........Wyc should clean out Doc's office, and send him off as a traitor with a bad deal hanging over his head as someone never to be trusted as a coach again.
