People think Danny should be fired for making this deal, I think he should be fired if he doesn't.

Meh, I don't think doing or not doing this trade will decide whether CP3 stays or leaves.

got to disagree
CP3 wants KG and Doc.
If you get them, he re-signs and you probably get really close to a title.

Otherwise, you're back to the beginning.

Doc and KG are game changers.  Not only do the Clips then retain CP3, but they become the marquee free agent destination for veteran ring chasers.  K has two years worth of high caliber playoff play in him if his minutes are managed in the regular season.

Jordan does very little for this team in the playoffs, when defenses are locked in every possession.  Garnett gives them a rim defending, rebounding big who can stretch the floor, which should help Griffin get to the hoop without DJ's defender standing near it.

This deal is a no brainer for the Clips, considering that they're not going to sign a backup PG like Bledsoe next summer, and the Lakers aren't going to agree to send Howard to the Clips for Griffin and Bledsoe.

The other big factor here is the Clippers' local TV deal comes up in two seasons.  If they can snag a title, it could be worth well over a billion dollars to them.  (The Lakers got $4b over 20 years, an average of $200 million a year, more revenue from just local TV than almost every other franchises get in total.  Since the Clippers share the same TV market, they could cash in big time if they could get a title.  They're probably never going to be on equal footing with the Lakers, but having Doc Rivers for the next half decade adds a ton of credibility, and should lead to on court playoff success.

If they make this move, and the Cs :wink Wink: release Pierce and he signs a MLE deal with the Clips, all the pieces will be in place for them to get to the Finals, assuming they can fill out their roster with cheapie vets that fit.  With the Lakers looking on the decline, especially if Howard signs with Houston, this would be a godfather move for the Clippers.

Well none of us on this board would have enough info to know that one way or another.  If I was the clippers and my superstar was going to bolt and break up a team on the rise, I think I would do as much as possible to keep him happy.

It would be really fun for once to know EXACTLY what was said by all the parties and know the truth and not just the reporting of the rumors.  I would especially like to know what Doc's role was in this.  If DA was pushing for the deal and Doc was going along it makes it a lot easier to have him come back next year.

I think the opposite. The Clippers are clearly not convinced Doc and KG automatically retain Chris Paul. Otherwise this would be a no brainer move for them.

I think that's stupid of the Clippers
I'm at the point with this that I think this is posturing...I think the Clippers have decided to stop talks and have a man to man with Chris Paul to see what he wants. That's just my opinion.

Even if it doesn't keep him, I don't see how you can say this is a no brainer for them. I think the Clippers know.

RT @BA_Turner: Doc Rivers been informed Clippers won't accept Celtics offer. Rivers prepared to stay in Boston, sources.
I think the Clippers are right to reject this trade. Not worth consideration.

Boston asking for too much.
I agree.

It was a lose-lose. Both sides wouldn't have benefited.

If the majority of Celtics fans like the deal, it's likely heavily favored towards us.

Agreed.

I´d take Jordan and the two picks and run as fast as I can.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

If the Cs can't pry Bledsoe from the Clips, they should strong arm them into taking Bass and Terry or Lee off their hands.

KG, Bass and Lee for Jordan and expiring Caron Butler.

Doc for two number one picks.
