Just eliminate the draft altogether.

Lol. So any team can just sign any college or high school player they want at any point of the season?

Hmmmm

I wouldn't make it so they could be signed at any point during the season.  I would set up an off-season signing period for free agent rookies.  I'd also drop the age limit back down to eighteen (I wouldn't mind seeing it be 16 actually, but that simply won't happen).

The NBA will definitely need a legit thirty team D-League with every team having their own minor league squad to make this work.  That's coming, though, I do believe.

If Cavs pick up Noel I expect my man Krook to come from where ever he's hiding with multiple trade scenarios for tha C's to get his boy Varejao.

This is looking like a set-up for tha NBA's golden child to return to Cleveland tho.

Hahahahahahaha that will happen for sure. give it a couple hours.

Yeah, Krook is a trip.

With cavs surely taking Noel, any think they could part with Andy V?

Should move him for a sf

Jeff Green?

Or Paul Pierce?

I'd prefer to send Paul so we could have Rondo-Green-Andy to build around, but CLE has no use for Pierce.

Adding insult to injury, the Cavs own another future Miami 1st round pick. So, if Lebron signs with the Cavs, he makes that pick much better because the Heat will be that much worse.

-- The Lakers' cap situation is atrocious. Don't be shocked if they trade forward/center Pau Gasol, who is recovering from a knee procedure and needs another 10 weeks of rehabilitation. The 7-footer is entering the final year of his contract and will earn $19.28 million next year. The Cavs might be open to a deal like that, adding a veteran player to the group of youngsters on the roster. Another name could be Celtics forward Paul Pierce.

Regarding the age limit, I'm of the opinion that any player who has graduated high school should be eligible to declare for the NBA draft, making them professionals and therefore disqualified from participating in college.

Likewise, I think anybody who chooses to go to college should be forced to either complete four years of college or wait one year from their last year in college (e.g. if they leave college after sophomore, couldn't be drafted until the next summer).

I just want to see players have more incentive to stay in college so that the college game benefits from the continuity.  But I also think guys who are no-doubt NBA players ought to be able to go pro right away if that's what they want.

If that led to increased use of the D-league to develop young players, then I think that'd be great.

I don't really agree with eliminating the draft altogether, though, because I don't want to see the big markets be guaranteed the ability to put together a young core on the fly simply by enticing free agent rookies.

Imagine if the Lakers just got to sign Wiggins and Parker this summer.  You might as well contract the NBA because teams like Charlotte would simply never sign talented young players.

Obviously something needs to be done to deter teams from tanking for high lottery picks.  It sucks that as things stand, there's little incentive to try to make the most of the team you have if you don't have a championship caliber core.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Regarding contraction, I think it would be a much better league if it carried sixteen to twenty teams instead of the thirty teams that we have now.  Half the teams are more or less development teams as is.

I love the NBA, but I definitely think it could stand some fixing.

How the heck does OKC have the 12th pick? Is it from the Harden trade? With Lamb, PJ3, and the 12th pick they certainly have some assets to package.

Yeah, they might get someone half as good as Harden!
