  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
So now it's about getting on national tv? I'm not sure, but it felt like we got blown out every time we played on national TV this year. I think people are forgetting how bad this team was this season and these play-offs with the exception of those 2 wins.

Blow it up.

Sidenote: I doubt anyone tunes into national broadcasts to see an over the hill Pierce and Garnett. Rondo is the star of this team and the exciting one to watch.

If KG and Pierce both return, which really seems unlikely but if they do, I'd like to see a different coach.  I'm harsh on Doc but it's not so much that he's a horrible coach, I'm not sure if he is or isn't (I'm absolutely sure he's not a great coach) but I'd like to see a coach with a different take on things.  One thing that really bugs me is how this team throws so many picks aimlessly, one after another even when it's not desirable or necessary.

Take for example the play at the end of regulation in game 4 when Pierce had Kidd on him.  Instead of just taking Kidd in isolation for the game, they drew up a play so Chandler got switched onto to Pierce.  They already had the best match up they could want and instead, they intentionally set it up so Pierce had to shoot over a much bigger guy from long-2 range.  Who does that?  They did the same thing against the Spurs a few years back in the Garden, needlessly playing a pick so Pierce had to shoot over Duncan.

It's just things like that, along with all the long-2s, the slow pace, the disregard over offensive rebounds and the bigs almost never rolling to the rim.  When Bass was a Mav, he rolled to the basket plenty and was effective at it.  Why did he have to pick and pop EVERY TIME? The Celtics don't play like any other team.  They spit at the importance of offensive rebounds, they play pick and pop about 90 percent of the time and they have ballhandlers looking to score off picks less than any team.  Hopefully a new coach will bring more variety.

The play they've run the most has to be a high screen where the ballhandler drives to the rim and sets up a 15 foot shot on the opposite baseline for a big.  That's their signature play, a 15 foot jump shot where at least three things had to synchronize.  It's a lot of action for such an uninspiring shot.  Teams set up 15 foot jumpers for their bigs a lot but no team puts more effort into it.  That's the Celtics, a lot of picks, pretty good ball movement and for what?

TP.  This sums up the Celtics pretty well.  I think the offense is oriented like this because of the roster.

KG opts to take the outside jumper instead of rolling to the basket because he's 36 with no lift, strength, or agility inside.  Even when he goes iso down low you can see him struggling to create.

If we had a Dwight Howard or Marcin Gortat I think you'd see a huge increase in rolling to the hoop.  (Because they can finish at the rim)

Part of it is on Doc because of his complacency to do the same thing over and over...and over.  But with no skilled big man on this team, there's your playbook.

Another reason why I would resign if I could successfully overtake Ainge's body is how little he's gotten out of the draft.  The Celtics had just one drafted player in the past five seasons playing for them against the Knicks and that one player struggled mightily.  Giddens and JaJuan Johnson are already out of the league and were out and out bust.  Sullinger was a defensible pick but it wasn't surprising that he went down with a back problem because that was the projection by doctors.  Fab Melo is not looking good so far.  There were players to be had in those years, Pekovic, DeAndre Jordan, Jimmy Butler, Norris Cole, etc.  Just one of them could've made a big difference.  To only get Avery is just crushing.

Most of all, I'm sick of Ainge because of he's wrought Bass and Davis on this team the past four seasons.

43 to 32 in favor of keeping it together.

Shocking to me.

Bump. I would like to see at least 100 votes.
