Like the article says, do you think they go back to the trade talks in the summer?

Could Smith be S&T'd for Pierce and assets? Only if the Hawks were willing to pay Pierce in full next season, correct?

Pierce was going to Dallas in this deal.

I might be in the minority, but I would've parted with this year's 1st, which is a very weak class, in order to aquire Smith. I just think Green is playing so well that he deserves the opportunity to log major minutes as a SF. This deal would've also given us a legit PF and  allowed us move Bass to the bench.

Judging by the fact that throwing in a late first round pick shut this deal down for Danny, I wouldn't say hes that interested in Smith.

Every GM in the league is interested in acquiring Smith, it's the price tag that always leads to arguments with him.  He overvalues himself, he wants to get paid franchise player money and the Hawks want to trade him like hes a franchise player.

I also would've done this deal. Josh Smith is probably the best available deal you can get for Paul Pierce at this point in his career.

"Close" by the way these reporters use it, still leads me to believe that it was still quite far away.

In any case, I still envision Josh Smith as a candidate for a S&T situation next offseason, but Pierce won't be going anywhere in that scenario I would imagine.
