This is not even close too being real...I used to think Woj was pretty good but I’m starting to wonder…look at what Denver got for Carmelo Anthony…heck…look at what Orlando got for Dwight Howard…those 3 players are not even rotation players…and…switching picks and adding another 1st round pick would still be bad for Atl…Atl would have never accepted this deal…they can do much better this summer with a S&T

well, for one, Josh Smith has never been an all-star. He's not near the level of Carmelo Anthony or Dwight Howard. Not even close.

He's much closer to Antoine Walker than he is to either of those 2.

The Nuggets traded Carmelo Melo to the New York Knicks.  Denver gets Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors' 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors' 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash.

is josh smith as good as carmelo anthony...probably not...but...someone will pay him max money because he is a good player...

Jae Crowder, Brandan Wright and Dahntay Jones  versus Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov...it's not even close...

plus...a cap expert will have to verify this...josh smith gets more $ in a S&T...it's all about the quan...

Again, Josh Smith is nowhere near the level of Melo or D12. Not even close. He Antoine Walker 2.0, all he's missing is the wiggle. He certainly has the pouting, the bad shot selection, warped perception of his own value, etc.  What would you get for Antoine Walker in his prime?

danny ferry was laughing hysterically and rolling on the ground...Jae Crowder, Brandan Wright and Dahntay Jones are pure crap...

and I'm sure Ferry will be laughing when Josh Smith leaves and the hawks get nothing this summer. What did the cavs get in the Lebron sign and trade?

MIAMI GETS:

LeBron James, who signs a 6-year, $110 million contract
CLEVELAND GETS:

Two first-round picks, that must be used starting in 2013 and ending by 2017
2012 second-round pick Miami received from New Orleans
Future second-round pick Heat acquired from Oklahoma City
Cleveland can also swap first round picks with the Heat in 2012
A large trade exception($15 million or so) that the Cavs must use in trades for one calendar year.

i can see danny ferry in a chinese restaurant asking for the Dallas Maverick pu pu platter...

lol...lol...lol...

Wow, the cavs got the 30th pick in the draft for a couple of years, and a trade exception, which likely will go to waste. Sure, the hawks should expect 3 starters and 4 draft picks for Josh Smith now ::)

Not to mention that Smith is not even a fraction of Lebron's value.

Antoine Walker 2.0

Smith has never been an all-star, never lead the league in anything, never been defensive player of the year, is 27 years old, will be 28 next season. He relies heavily on his athleticism which will begin declining soon, shoots waaaaay too many outside shots at a low percentage, pouts all the time, is a poor passer, uninteligent player, and overall not worth the money he would cost to keep if we had traded for him.

In what world is he worth as much as Dwight Howard or Carmelo Anthony? Or more than what the Cavs got in the Lebron sign and trade?

Wow, Dallas would have gotten Paul Pierce for Jae Crowder, Brandan Wright, Dahntay Jones and a swap of 1st rounders in a weak draft? Really?

Jae Crowder can play, but Pierce would have been nice with Dirk.

And oj mayo.

If the pick was lotto protected I would have moved it.

Don't think salaries match up for Dallas to bring in pierce.

So, in theory, the deal could possibly have netted us Josh Smith, and additionally made dealing KG to LA plausible.

We'd have been left with (potentially) Jordan, Smith, Sullinger, Green, Lee, Bradley, Bledsoe, Rondo as our core.  Plus whatever we could have gotten for Terry.

As much as I am loathe to trading Pierce/KG, that would have been a pretty solid core to move forward with.

Okay. I think Smith has already been traded to the Celtics and no one knows it.

Anyone catch those two awful passes he tried to make in the 4th q and OT?

Wow.

Just to be clear, I'm happy the C's didn't trade Pierce for Smith.  Ideally, we'd bring him here to play WITH KG/Pierce.  I'd still trade Green for Smith without hesitation.

Smith is a very good player.  32/8/8 tonight and solid defense.  Yeah, he made some baffling plays at the end, but Smith shouldn't be asked to do as much as he has to.  Why the Hawks run the offense through him from the perimeter as much as they do is beyond me.  Mostly, it is just bad coaching/lack of leadership. That would never happen here.
