we don't have enough to trade for Josh Smith.

Bradley + Bass + Sullinger + Melo + multiple 1st rounders isn't going to get it done.

3rd team would have to be involved in that trade scenario

They would probably be interested in Green if he keeps on playing like he has these preseason games . Probably would take Green, Sullinger and picks , but I would just wait to the offseason to do a s+ t if that's the case.

Considering what Orlando got for Howard and the fact that Smith is the same age as Dwight and never been an all-star that's a pretty good haul.

Exactly my thoughts.

I also wouldnt count out the Knicks or Thunder. OKC can offer a pretty nice package of young talent and salary. I am thinking Eric Maynor, Perk and parts? might just work, especially if the Hawks will take back salary. The Knicks may be willing to move Amare as well.

Smith can force his way to Boston by saying if he's traded anywhere else, he won't sign an extension with that team.

If Smith wants to play with his pal Rondo, he and his agent can make it happen.  Bass and Lee to a third team, a Boston 1st and the other team's first and an expirer, and that should get it done.

You're right.

I isn't going to get done because Danny Ainge isn't stupid enough to vastly over pay for Josh Smith like that.

-It would be a jerk move to trade Lee after Doc convinced him to come here for less money.
-If Green is proving he's worth his money, then why would we trade him? If he isn't, why would anyone want him?
-Bradley can shut down the Wades and the Westbrooks as we've all been able to see. That's not something we can just find on the market. Lee is a defensive pest, but Bradley is a defensive monster.
-Atlanta's in whole sale mode. They just unloaded JJ for a ton of expirings. They're not taking lesser players on longer contracts for Smith, especially when he's got an expiring contract.
-Sully is proving he fits in well into this team (albeit his pick and roll defense looks bad for now.). Plus, Atlanta's not trading an undersized 4 for another undersized 4.
-Trading those players and bass kills our versatility. We need as much rest for KG and Pierce as possible.

This only gets done if we get a third team, and I don't think anyone really wants to help us. The reason why Denver and Philly got involved in the Dwight trade is because they were getting real value returned to them. There aren't that many valuable expirings out there outside of Toronto and Detroit (Jose Calderon and Corey Maggette). Toronto won't want to help someone in the division by taking their long contracts, and Detroit probably doesn't want to do the same. The only way those teams acquire those players is if they think the players are worth or are more than worth their contracts, but if they were, WHY WOULD WE TRADE THEM?!

Even though I think Rondo could turn JSmoove into Shawn Marion 2.0 (They are so similar it's scary), I'm not losing any sleep over not having him on the team. He's never proven he's a smart player but he has a ton of talent. So did Chad Ochocinco, and yes I know, football is different from basketball, but Smith has been riding high on his god-given abilities. There's no telling he can fit properly.

The only way I see us getting Josh Smith is if he is willing to sign the MLE after the season. I don't think the Hawks are willing to sell him to us for a package that we would be willing to give. In the end I just don't see it happening, Smith won't take less money to play here and Atlanta won't trade him to us simply because that's where he wants to go.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

yeh, if we don't trade for him now, we will definitely not be able to sign him. And he definitely will not be coming here for the MLE. And, I don't want Danny giving up too much for him. I like J.Smith but only for the right price

Al harrington, josh mcroberts, Christian eyenga ,Nicola Vucevic,Moe Harkless ,Aron afflalo.

Yuck.

And Dwight is back to back DPOY,multiple allstar, all nba defensive team multple times, nba finalist, olympic gold medalist, top 5 nba player.

Josh is a really good player but he isn't Dwight, but Boston and Josh has leverage in this,Josh tells Hawks he wants Boston, we offer the Hawks Bass,Lee,Melo and picks and it's done deal.

I probably might consider keeping Jeff Green instead then if all else is constant.

Eh, Josh has some leverage in this but its still up in the air if the Hawks want to trade him or resign him. Right now they appear to want to keep their options open, though I think they'll move him at the deadline unless they're in the thick of it for a high enough seed to make ownership want to keep him for the playoff push.

Just not shocking.

I think for the Celtics to trade for him, Green is going to have to re-establish his value around the league and likely look for a third team.

If Smith tells Atlanta he wont resign with them, then they better trade him before the deadline. Dont be like Phoenix and Toronto who wouldnt trade Amare and Bosh, who walk away without getting anything in return.
