Report: Josh Smith will explore free agency,won't sign extension

Josh Smith would be a perfect fit. He can do so much on the court. Pass, handle the ball, defend, block shots, REBOUND, score, face-up, post-up. He is a very poor mans Lebron James. J Smoove is a top 5 PF (Love, Aldridge, Smoove, Griffin). I would love to get Josh Smith and idc if we have to give up 5 or 6 player to get him honestly. As long as we keep Rondo, Pierce, Garnett, Green, and Sullinger. Well maybe Sullinger.

Hopefully SMith learned from his pal Howard's mistakes and does a better job forcing himself to his preferred destination, preferably Boston. 

A team with AB, Rondo, KG and Smith on it would be incredible defensively, and Smith would get 3-5 easy buckets a game off Rondo setups.  He's a perfect fit here.

I don't see what all the fuss is about Josh Smith. He's a good player, but not worth big money for the next 5 years when we have great guys on the team already like Green and Sullinger.

Neither of those players can match up with Lebron.

When your goal is to beat the heat, a guy who could potentially matchup defensively vs Lebron and also improve the overall team rebounding/defense at the same time is a coveted asset.

Now I'm not saying we should give up the farm for J. Smith, but if the price is right, Danny should definitely inquire what it will take.  I think this Celtics unit is maybe a piece away from matching up against our primary obstacle to the NBA finals.

Edit: Also now that Smith has officially refused to sign an extension that improves the Celtics bargaining position at the trade deadline.  Atlanta KNOWS they are going to lose Smith to free agency, so that makes them motivated sellers.  The question is can we come up with the value to make the trade worthwhile to them without gutting our roster?

Green would have to be involved in any trade to get Josh Smith ( not only for salary matching purposes , but the hawks aren't going to just trade him away for long term contracts of role players like Bass and Lee, Green can be a legit starting SF)

It would have to be something like Green,Sully and filler(Collins,Joseph,wilcox types)

I really like Green and Sully and I expect them to be very good compliments to the big 3. Definitely want to give them until at least late January to see how they fit in and if Sully is capable against defending and rebounding against legit PF'S with size. If he he struggles I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to send Green and Sully for Josh Smith, he would be a perfect fit next to KG and running with Rondo.
