A couple of things regarding Dooling that stood out to me this past season:
While we are in in this neighborhood, one of my favorite Dooling quotes:

Quote
There were a lot of people who didn't necessarily talk before the game. John Stockton was a guy who never talked before the game, never signed autographs or anything like that and he was known as a gentleman and a saint so the spin that Rondo has is definitely a misconception. If you ask the guys in the locker room, I'd tell you that everybody is with him. If I have to go down a dark alley, I want to go down there with him. As a matter of fact, behind him because he's a great leader … I think he has pure passion for the game. He loves the game, he's a thinker of the game, he's a student of the game, he's a historian of the game. He wants to be special. He wants to quietly leave his mark on this league and he wants to kind of do it his way … He's a reserved guy. Don't allow people to tell you that this guy is a jerk or an Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. because he's quiet and he doesn't want to talk before games or he doesn't have this superman personality, this Dwight Howard personality.

And about KG:

Quote
He's incredible. I guarantee you if you did a poll of everybody who has played with Kevin Garnett, I guarantee you he would probably be 98% of people's favorite teammate. He is that guy. He's the glue. If somebody is not going well, he's the guy to pick him up. If there's a problem, he's the one to address it. If somebody needs to be taken up for, he's the one to do that, if there's a question that needs to be asked and somebody doesn't want to ask it, he does that. He is amazing … I guarantee you if you went around the locker room, everybody who has been around him, ask his former teammates, he is incredible, man. He is an incredible man. He should get awards every year for the man, the mentorship he gives to young guys, the work ethic that he shows them and instills in them. The camaraderie that he gives to the team. You know what I mean? The way he embraces everybody on the staff from the video coordinator to the masseuse. Kevin Garnett should be an ambassador. He is that kind of personality. He is amazing.

Very happy with the signing.

Dooling has both Rondo's and Doc's respect and ear. If Rondo in certain instances tunes out Doc, Dooling can deliver Doc's message and Rondo will listen.

Plus Dooling's a big pest on D.

I'd rather have greg oden or joel pryzbilla, both of whom i suspect could be had for the vet min. we could of course still sign one, then make the 15 spot battle an all outcage match between joseph and christmas.....

Oden's not playing for anyone this season, he's trying to come back healthy in '13.  And Pryzbilla might be in the same boat minus the second part.

Big fan of Dooling coming back, he's well-respected and fills out our guard rotation nicely.  Now I think we should just bring in Joseph + Xmas and see if anyone useful gets bought out for the BAE (or just roll it forward to next season).

Cool. But I'd also rather have this guy.

Pierce and Green will take most of minutes. He probably wants a bigger role.

Kirilenko with the BAE would be very nice indeed.

BTW, here's where we stand:

ESPNForsberg Chris Forsberg
by my count, C’s are around $71.4 million committed for 13 players (71.8 if pencil in Kris Joseph). Still competition for 15th spot in camp.

I want another SF for depth, but AK-47's going to want playing time.  There aren't enough minutes for him, not with Jeff Green around filling that same role.  I'd like there to be someone else deep on the bench who could occasionally fill in (like Sasha last year), but not somebody who's going to be expecting/demanding a prominent role.

Forsberg is wrong, sort of.  Since the C's used the big MLE, Joseph will count 854k against the hard cap, even tho he's paid less.  The same would be true of Christmas or Smith should they make the team.

He's also assumed that Bass, Garnett, and Green will be paid the same amount every year of their deals, which will probably not be accurate.  I expect that Bass and Garnett will see small raises each year, and maybe Green also (but his deal was once reported early on as being 9 mil in year 1.)  Accordingly, his total cap number, including Joseph, is probably accurate, but he gets there wrong.

This also means we have room for the BAE as the last roster spot, if someone special becomes available.

Great move by the C's love it. Love what Dooling gives this team. Extra veteran leadership and an emergency 1 or 2 guard to command the floor.

You want ANOTHER sf? Pierce, Green, Joseph, and Lee arent going to have enough time as it is, why would we need another one.

Courtney Lee isn't a small forward!  He's played just about as much SF as Ray Allen, which is to say ~5% of his time on the court.  I love his acquisition, but I don't want to count on him having to defend any of the league's stronger 3's.

Kris Joseph is a rookie second rounder!  He's looked decent in Summer League...  in Summer League.

Pierce will be 35 this October and deals with nagging injuries every season.

Jeff Green's coming off heart surgery.

None of the power forwards can really slide down and play the 3.  JJJ might have been a tweener-type, but he's gone.

Why wouldn't we want another small forward with that last roster spot?
