Keyon Dooling Signs 1 year deal to return to Boston (Signing on pg. 3)

Anybody excited that not just Rondo but the rookies will benefit from Dooling as well?

I like it mainly because our bench is already strong and he won't be needed to be a big contributer like last year. He is a good guy to have around and keep our bench flexing.

just read this too from Flannery, I guess it was a necessity, I would have preferred Delonte back but we need to keep the BAE in case someone intresting gets cut or amnestied down the line

I feel a sentimental appreciation towards Delonte but he's not right for this team.  He's made of glass and we need guys who can stay on the court.  It may have taken two separate attempts but I'm pretty sure the Delonte in Boston experiment is over for good.

Who runs the point better dooling or jet? I know jets the better player but........

I'd rather have greg oden or joel pryzbilla, both of whom i suspect could be had for the vet min. we could of course still sign one, then make the 15 spot battle an all outcage match between joseph and christmas.....

VERY happy about this. As big of a Pietrus fan I am, I was much more worried about the Celtics not signing a backup PG. Even though Dooling is a bit more of a combo guard, who leans towards a SG, I'm glad Rondo has a backup besides Terry. Not to mention, Dooling was hurt midway through last year leading to limited production.

With the prospects of heading to Philadelphia needing a win just to stay alive in the series facing them squarely in the face, the Celtics needed answers quickly at halftime Monday. They got the answers from Brandon Bass and the inspiration from Keyon Dooling as the Celtics outscored the Sixers, 54-35, in the final 24 minutes to walk away from Game 5 with a 101-85 win in Game 5 Monday night.

"At the half, we were struggling defensively. Doc didn't think we were playing for each other and Reverend Dooling stepped up and gave us a little sermon and let us know that we have to play for each other. In the second half, that's what we decided to do."

Yet the most important addition in the locker room appeared to have been point guard Keyon Dooling. His results on the floor have been mixed, but his influence on Rondo as a trusted ally was immeasurable.

Rondo needed a new confidant and Dooling, Rondo told me just before Game 1, had become that guy.

"Keyon is one of the best leaders I've ever been around," Rondo declared. "He tells me the truth. If I mess up, he lets me know. He's also very positive, very uplifting.

"Sometimes you play with guys who don't always want to see you do well. When they tell you something, you wonder where they're coming from, what their reasons are.

"But with Keyon, I never worry about that. He's going to give it to me straight, because he cares."

When Rondo drew a two-game suspension for throwing the ball at Wright in February, his veteran teammates went to him demanding a public apology. Feeling cornered, Rondo balked -- and that's when Dooling stepped in.

"I just told him, 'You hurt your family when you do stuff like [throwing the ball at a ref]. The [money lost due to suspension] comes out of your pocket. That's taking money away from the people you love,'" Dooling said.  He listened because I was coming from a pure place. I want him to grow as a man.  I set out to get to know him. I didn't listen to any of the other guys and their opinions of Rajon.  I love the guy. I've made a friend for a lifetime."

Doc said as far as the locker room was concerned, last year might have been his favorite team.  We've set it up to be like that again.  No discernible knuckleheads, as far as I can tell.
