  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Sure along the road Irving might be top 5 PG, but Lowry  will not be that much far off.
Why give up that potential when you're building to the future?

I don't see a viable case to do so unless you're convinced that Irving "won't" get better.

No I admit I gave up potential. Potential.

Lowry is and will be a near all star level PG in the next 3 years, that where Kyrie turns superstar, I get that. The team got better defensively, Lowry and MKG will shut wings down.

I got a pick this round to add more solid depth to the team.

I understand the team is no longer a TOTF candidate, but as of right now, Kyrie and Lowry are not that far apart. Kyrie is a better scorer, Lowry better defender. The team is still a nice fit, complete with shooters, inside prescense and defense is even better.

2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

No, I'm not. The price was fair. He bought the next point guard superstar in the NBA.

no it's still a TOTF candidate, the thing is you went from lock winner to probably not going to win it.

Trade

Lowry, 6.21, 11.20, 13.20

for

Irving, 10.15, 11.1, 12.15

Terrible trade. I thought Lowry outplayed Kyrie last year but there is no way that is going to continue to happen going forward. Irving should surpass Lowry next season or least move past him by his third year.

The Cavs were a team built for the future. Not a win-now team. It's a terrible move to sacrifice Irving's potential (as a top five PG) for a guy like Kyle Lowry (a low level star who looks to be a third to fourth best player on a dominant team).

You don't sacrifice top tier talent for role players.
Yeah that's the biggest issue. I don't think Irving is all that much better than Lowry right now, but going forward?

^ I agree. What is the difference PRESENTLY between Kyrie and Lowry? Other then Lowry is a better defender. Now Kyrie goes from always having the ball in his hands to primarily playing off the ball. This honestly seems like a lateral move to me since this game is played in the short term.

So you want to be a team that's outside the playoffs and has a lesser future?

All I can say is watch them both this year.  You're going to be surprised about how big the gap becomes, and very quickly.  Irving is a superstar.
