Look, even IF he was upset about the KG courtship (which I certainly wouldn't agree with), the bottom line here is that this just added to the littany of issues that bothered Ray.
Looked at singularly, sure - I couldn't agree with Ray, here.
But on top of the 2-yr trade dangling...answering to petulant Rondo (Yes - some of us have called Rondo THAT before on the blog)...the unstability?
We have to look at the ENTIRE picture here, not just one thing.
Rondo was dangled 3 years ago, and has been repeatedly since. Remember the potential trade to Detroit that would have sent Rondo and Ray packing? I'm sure Rondo has gotten extremely angry about the trade rumors, but he has used them as a chip on his shoulder to get better. Pierce was dangled for YEARS and he still has a level headed approach to the process.
As far as Rondo's relationship with Ray. Let's not pretend that Ray's OCD and sensitive nature didn't have a lot to do with their deteriorating relationship. KG and Pierce have reportedly clashed with Rondo MANY times. But at the end of the day they are able to shake it off and not take it personally. Rondo has attacked pretty much anyone and everyone at some point. You would think Ray could realize it says more about Rondo's nature than anything else.
Rondo never had the opportunity to leave
And He wasnt replaced in the starting 5
please add the facts and dont just blame it on one
If Ray is sqabbling over starting or coming off the bench, then he is selfish. Paul Pierce offered to come off the bench if it would help the Celtics. The concept of the 6th man was invented by Red Auerbach, I believe.
Also, I think that all Celtics have been rumored in trade talks. Ray Allen wasn't traded from Boston. Had he been he wouldn't have left as a free agent.
I don't think you can really find a way to side with Ray on this one. There is a value in the Celtic franchise that transcends basketball. It is unlike any other basektball franchise, I can think of.
And it is one, that Mr. Allen is no longer part of, in any way.
