Look, even IF he was upset about the KG courtship (which I certainly wouldn't agree with), the bottom line here is that this just added to the littany of issues that bothered Ray.

Looked at singularly, sure - I couldn't agree with Ray, here.

But on top of the 2-yr trade dangling...answering to petulant Rondo (Yes - some of us have called Rondo THAT before on the blog)...the unstability?

We have to look at the ENTIRE picture here, not just one thing.

I have not seen "one" person say that they blame Ray for leaving, in fact I have seen a lot of people saying they would leave too because of all of the "reasons" Ray supposedly did BUT, most everyone agrees that the team he went to is the issue!

And for a lot less money!

Frankly all these other things coming out, if true, really is not making him look good at all

Rondo was dangled 3 years ago, and has been repeatedly since.  Remember the potential trade to Detroit that would have sent Rondo and Ray packing?  I'm sure Rondo has gotten extremely angry about the trade rumors, but he has used them as a chip on his shoulder to get better.  Pierce was dangled for YEARS and he still has a level headed approach to the process.

As far as Rondo's relationship with Ray.  Let's not pretend that Ray's OCD and sensitive nature  didn't have a lot to do with their deteriorating relationship.  KG and Pierce have reportedly clashed with Rondo MANY times.  But at the end of the day they are able to shake it off and not take it personally.  Rondo has attacked pretty much anyone and everyone at some point.  You would think Ray could realize it says more about Rondo's nature than anything else.

Rondo never had the opportunity to leave

And He wasnt replaced in the starting 5

please add the facts and dont just blame it on one

Well, I don't know...as I wade through the sea of "Go to hell, Ray"...."I hate Ray"...."I hope Ray loses"..."Ray tarnished his legacy"....it all seemed the same to me after awhile.

Indeed, some of us wanted Ray gone 2-3 years ago. That drum just kept beating louder and louder until Ray was able to leave on HIS OWN TERMS, whether we like it or not.

I certainly don't like it...never will. My dislike for the Heat ALMOST matches the Lakers, now - almost, but not quite.

Id really like to hear Rays side which we may not but I'm sorry, we aint gonna roll out the red carpet for him again.  His role and play has diminished.  If he thinks he deserves the same treatment as from 5 years ago with less of a role and less production then he's delusional and will fit in just fine with the delusional CHeat.

Ray was actually traded...gone...pack your bags.

Somehow (thankfully), it never went through.

I don't believe that Rondo's trades (or Paul's or KGs, for that matter), ever got to that point.

And it's been noted here on the blog that Rondo and KG are the team's "Divos"....hard to please and needing to be catered to.

Ray never got that title....never really got the time to.

He was honing his craft - fitting constantly into his role in BOS.

Pierce was very close to going to the Nets.  The Nets got cold feet at the last second because they worried about dealing with  Pierce's legacy in Boston.

As far as Rondo goes, the jury is still out on his attitude.  I'm not saying Rondo hasn't done plenty of things that are questionable.  I personally just believe that he has handled trade discussions very well.

And when it comes to apply the term "Divo" to KG.  I don't even  think it applies in a traditional sense.  Garnett is a different breed but he has such an overwhelmingly positive impact over the culture of any team.  He would do anything for his coach, as he has mentioned many times.

Finally, I think it's very valid to call Ray a "Divo" based on these recent stories.  He just happens to be a very quiet person who doesn't deal with confrontation very well.  Ray operates in his own world and it allows him to have individual success in any situation.  I will remember Ray based on his own merits as player.  However, I'm indifferent on his impact as a teammate.

Again, him leaving on his own terms isn't the problem, heck, I woulda packed for him (don't get me wrong, I like Ray but it was time for change in my eyes)... had he chosen any other teams besides our 2 rivals I could have cheered him and said, good luck but he didn't so I wish him bad things as a player (not outside of basketball b/c sports aren't THAT serious, I would never wish bad on people outside of a game)!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Really Ray? Considering how well KG played last season can you blame DA and company? Of course not.

Do you believe MOST of us wanted Ray gone over 2 years ago?  I keep coming back to the fact that Ray was the easiest player for  Danny to deal.  Any team can plug Ray in immediately and become better.  There's so many factors that make trading for KG or Paul more difficult.

I know many people on this forum wanted Ray gone but they don't represent the majority of Celtic nation.

I still believe that Ray is being overly sensitive.  I'm sure Doc would agree.

I don't believe that I said most...but some of us certainly wanted him gone.

Just do a search on "Ray Allen" threads on here, lol...I bet you a cookie that he he's been the most traded here on CelticsBlog.

I would hope this isn't true.  Of course KG was courted differently, he's freakin' KG!

Maybe this is all just a smear job the media is putting on to play up the drama, but Ray is really starting to look bad here.

Quite frankly, whatever his reasons were, I don't care anymore.

Ray chose his path, I'm choosing mine.  Good riddance to bad rubbish.  Enjoy Hades, oh, I mean South Beach, Ray.  Hope you can handle the heat.

Eh, no... this came from Doc. I doubt Doc is trying to smear him. He said in the same interview that he won't respect or like Ray any less for his decision... he just doesn't like the decision.

It's pretty clear that Ray felt like an afterthought:

* Multiple trade attempts
* Benched
* Only a two year offer
* Team made a huge deal about re-igning KG, and barely mentioned Ray

Ray is a prideful guy, and I'm sure he didn't feel wanted.  Miami, on the other hand, clearly coveted him.

This is Doc just speculating, nothing more.  Ray and KG have known each other since they were in high school.  End of the day Doc still has love for Ray leave it at that.
