Ray Got Upset with the Celtics Courting KG so Hard

Rivers hinted that perhaps the Celtics' courting of Kevin Garnett to return may have irritated Allen, who may not have felt like a priority.

"I thought we did that," Rivers said. "Danny (Ainge) in particular did exactly what he should have done. Kevin Garnett was our focal point and he should have been. If that got anyone ruffled then that's probably too bad. We did everything that we're supposed to do.

"He had his reasons. I think emotionally he probably got bent sideways a little bit by us courting Kevin for some reason. I don't know honestly. Listen, he was great for us when he was here and that's all we can say for it. Clearly we would have liked him to stay with us. But I respect Ray and that will never go away."

The more that comes out, the more sensative and babyish Ray Allen sounds. Keep crying ray ray.

This is where it shows that Ray is living in some fantasy world.  Honestly I would expect this from Big Baby.  Do you think Paul Pierce would even try to argue that KG will be remembered as the best player out of all three of them?

Ray is turning out to be a sensitive cry baby.  I don't blame him  for getting emotional about it.  That's only natural.  It's just surprising that he can't get past the initial emotion and put the situation into clear perspective.

Im in Seattle and there were many ex Sonics who displayed outrage at the team moving. Ex Sonics and players born in Seattle. But noticeably silent all along: Sugar Ray. All along I thought that was odd. Its not odd anymore. Ray was all about Ray all along. What a total fraud the guy is

You know, I don't think that's true about the courting KG thing. He might have been disappointed at not being offered 9/year to say, but that's about it.

I know these tidits are news, but I agree with Cman.  What we hear out there now is going to be snipetts that have kernels of truth mixed with speculation and presumption.  I don't really care why he left -- obviously he was bothered enough to leave a contender for less money.  We can't get in his head no matter how hard we try.  And it's just not worth the effort.  I agree that it's time to move on.

Looked at singularly, sure - I couldn't agree with Ray, here.

But on top of the 2-yr trade dangling...answering to petulant Rondo (Yes - some of us have called Rondo THAT before on the blog)...the unstability?

We have to look at the ENTIRE picture here, not just one thing.

Agreed.  A lot of C's fans are trying to find one big reason why Ray left, when it looks like there were a lot of smaller things that led to him going to Miami.

Rondo was dangled 3 years ago, and has been repeatedly since.  Remember the potential trade to Detroit that would have sent Rondo and Ray packing?  I'm sure Rondo has gotten extremely angry about the trade rumors, but he has used them as a chip on his shoulder to get better.  Pierce was dangled for YEARS and he still has a level headed approach to the process.  

As far as Rondo's relationship with Ray.  Let's not pretend that Ray's OCD and sensitive nature  didn't have a lot to do with their deteriorating relationship.  KG and Pierce have reportedly clashed with Rondo MANY times.  But at the end of the day they are able to shake it off and not take it personally.  Rondo has attacked pretty much anyone and everyone at some point.  You would think Ray could realize it says more about Rondo's nature than anything else.

Ray was actually traded...gone...pack your bags.

Somehow (thankfully), it never went through.

I don't believe that Rondo's trades (or Paul's or KGs, for that matter), ever got to that point.

And it's been noted here on the blog that Rondo and KG are the team's "Divos"....hard to please and needing to be catered to.

Ray never got that title....never really got the time to.

He was honing his craft - fitting constantly into his role in BOS.

I have not seen "one" person say that they blame Ray for leaving, in fact I have seen a lot of people saying they would leave too because of all of the "reasons" Ray supposedly did BUT, most everyone agrees that the team he went to is the issue!
