It's pretty clear that Ray felt like an afterthought:
* Multiple trade attempts
* Benched
* Only a two year offer
* Team made a huge deal about re-igning KG, and barely mentioned Ray
Ray is a prideful guy, and I'm sure he didn't feel wanted. Miami, on the other hand, clearly coveted him.
*Multiple trade attempts and rumors are apart of the business. Rajon Rondo has been mentioned in trade rumors since 2009. What makes Ray Allen different? Paul Pierce was nearly traded to the Nets last season. Ray Allen has been in the league for 16 or 17yrs, he shouldn't take trade rumors personal.
*Benched - It's not anyone's fault that Ray got hurt and Bradley was inserted. I just happen to be that Bradley gave the Celtics a stronger defensive presence and athleticism that Ray no longer has at his age. But he went to Miami for less money and to play the same role?
*Only a two year offer - He'll be 39 or 40 by the time his contract is up. The C's need to get younger at some point.
*Team made a huge deal about re-igning KG, and barely mentioned Ray. True, but the Celtics front office takes blame for constant bad PR as far as getting info out.
*Ray is a prideful guy, and I'm sure he didn't feel wanted. Miami, on the other hand, clearly coveted him. - His pride just tarnished his image with Celtics fans and others. He had every right to leave, but to go to Miami? He'll be in Miami, riding the coat-tail of Lebron and Wade. If they win another Chip it won't be truly earned.
Ray earned banner 17 along with KG and PP. He was apart of Boston's Big 3 and now he's a role playing bench player behind Wade, James, Bosh, Chalmers, Haslem and Battier. It is what it is.
