Just a personality clash?

I mean...it's Ray this time, what if this happens to someone else in the future, will Rondo's personality became a issue to drive players away from Boston?

I love Rondo, but I've heard enough whispers about his personality that I often wonder how he might react when/if Boston becomes mediocre/lotto-bound in the Post Big-3 era.  Hopefully we can continue to put talent around him, stay competitive and never have to find out what it's like to having a sulking allstar lead a team without hall of famers surrounding him.

Why must we assume it's something wrong with Rondo?

Ray is a very methodological man with borderline OCD.

Not saying there's anything wrong with Ray but, man, Rondo gets a bad rap.

Rondo has a reputation as a diva when dealing with him behind closed doors.

Additionally on court frustration + personalities that never meshed well can explode on you easily. Everyone in the NBA has egos, big ones usually.

I'm sure Rondo can be irritating, but it sounds like the stuff that got to Ray the most--Rondo's bigger, longer contract, Rondo's higher BBIQ and his willingness to correct Ray when he needed it--wasn't just about Rondo's personality.

That Bradley's success appears to have been the last straw says it's more about Ray than Rondo.

I can understand Ray doesn't like Rondo, but what Ray did to make Rondo dislike him? Clearly the feeling is mutual, Rondo didn't do anything to try keep Ray.

I'm not saying Rondo did anything wrong, but just worrying, if KG and Pierce retire, Rondo will be the king of this team, will he drive away anyone doesn't get along with him?

The team has never really been built around Rondo's strengths which is getting guys layups. How many layups has Ray missed over the last few years? Ray may be a great shooter but he sucks as a finisher and I am sure that gets under Rondo's skin. I play with a lot of oldtimers and they always comment about Ray's inability to make a layup. If it p---es off a group of old guys you can imagine how much that irritates Rondo.
My guess is that Rondo will continue to be less than enthused as Terry is just another gunner and the two top rookies aren't known for running the floor. If Danny and Doc don't want to give Rondo guys who will take advantage of Rondo's strengths, they should trade him as it will continue to be an unhappy lockerroom.

It doesn't matter what Rondo said or did...Ray is the 1 that's wrong!!!!

If Ray wants to be butt-hurt because Rondo preferred having at least 1 player to consistently haul ass up the court with him during fast breaks, that wasn't stagnating the offense while trying to free himself up & that wasn't gimpy at the time then to hell with Ray.

They all agreed at the beginning of last season that Rondo would be the leader & I could bet that he had the same personality "issues" then as he did at the end of the season. With that being said, any kind of animosity between the 2 that would lead Ray to leave is petty BS on Ray's part IMHO.

Instead of all this nonsense Ray should've just man'd up & said that he thinks Miami has a better shot at getting a ring & left it at that... at least that's honest & not contradictory like all this BS about being on the trade block (cuz Rondo & Pierce didn't have their necks put out there by Ainge too  ::)),wanting to be a starter (that's gonna happen with him in Miami, sure  ::) ::) ::))& wanting more $$ over 3 years which clearly isn't happening there either.

Ray seemed to be on their side anyways in the final game with all the defensive lapses.  Good riddance.

As far as I'm concerned, Rondo can pretty much do as he pleases so as long as he keeps chalking up triple doubles and carrying the team on his shoulders when need be.

Rondo is a lot better than Ray without doing half the work of Ray and Ray doesn't like that. Upon which perhaps Ray said something like "You should work harder" and Rondo responded with "and you should play better". Ray cried.

according to Woj, Allen chose Miami to stick it to the Celtics

wow, didn't know he was that upset. But then again, he was technically traded to Memphis at the trade deadline.

There's a pretty good read on this out there by Wojo:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--heat-gave-ray-allen-reason-to-again-feel-wanted.html
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

Wojo article explains it all. Rondo has become a louder force with the Celtics...ray importance dropped.

yeah, the wojo article doesn't says a lot in reality, just a lot of vague stuff. this is getting annoying! what precisely was the problem??? my guess is, rondo is smarter than ray on the court and refused to play nice about it. if that's true, then i really hope people see ray, not rondo, in the wrong here. this was arguably the most informative quote in the article.
"When it comes to basketball, Rondo is the smartest player on the team – one of the smartest players in the league," one locker-room source said. "And Ray considers himself a smart guy. But at some point, it became hard for Ray to be corrected by a guy so much younger than him."
