Jeff Green did get a $9M 1-year deal last year so that is his potential as an NBA player but there is no way he is getting a raise after not having played a full season due to major surgery.I think he ends up a $8M per max. That is the max I would go at least. I think very highly of Jeff Green too, and I was stoked that we got him for Perkins. But once he is getting $10M per to be Pierce's backup for 2 years, you are flushing cash down the toilet. This is all speculation anyways. So it is not true.I wish Perk and Nate was back. Instead of this greedy ass fool. Have you seen Perk's deal? I'll believe the numbers when they are final. My guess is something more like 3 years at 8-9. His deal is cheaper than what is reported to be Green's and he is a better fit for the team. Remember, our starting 5 with healthy Perk was undefeated in the playoffs.

Sam AmickOn the Celtics front, agent David Falk continues to say he thinks a deal gets done with Boston for free agent forward Jeff Green. One source with knowledge of the talks says it may be in the four years, $40 million neighborhood, but it is not done. "I’m confident it’ll get done," Falk told SI.com. "I guess they got (Brandon) Bass' (contract) done, which is great. Jeff is trying to get a sense of what the team looks like first before he makes a commitment, but I expect he’ll be there and I expect it’ll be done by the 11th (when the free agency moratorium ends). We’ve gotten a lot of interest from other teams. But as far as Boston, we’re very confident we’ll get it done. "He wants to be in Boston. He’s excited about the moves they’ve made. He’s hoping Ray Allen comes back as well, because he feels very close to Ray Allen." Allen is visiting Miami today and appears to be down to Boston and the Heat for his considerations.

And then there is just one quote which doesn't have a named source. It seems quite possible that David Falk is the only source for this story. Given that Green has shouted from the rooftops he wants to play for the Cs, he has no leverage, so by floating 4/40 in the media, he's hoping to push the number up. But it may be backfiring, as the collective response of the outside world seems to be that that's nuts.
This kind of contract would tie us up like Joe Johnson's contract tied up the Hawks until this offseason. Overpaying a so-so player by a ridiculous margin.
and danny has to get PP's minutes down this season. he came in broken down and left the playoff broken down...of the big three...PP looks to be in the worst shape...green would save PP
for how many years has boston lacked a legit back up for PP? couple that with ray allen out the door....boston needs jeff green...maybe at a lower price...but there isn't a lot left on the wing as well as the guardi like pietrus as much as the next guy..but he isn't a main cog in the machine...he is a guy that can fill out your bench...but counting on him to be PP's main back up is not good reasoning...nor is counting on moore or kris joseph either
Even Ilyasova, who's much more talented than Green, won't get something like 10 million a year. He's going to get 8-9. Green is worth 3-5 at maximum, imo.
