Big props to Wyc and Co. for okaying all these deals / offers.  If we bring back Green, Bass, Ray, and/or Krstic, we've pretty much locked ourselves into the luxury tax for the foreseeable future.

Educate me again on the particulars of the luxury tax Roy, if you don't mind.  I thought the Celts couldn't offer/use the full MLE if they went over the threshold of 74 million.  I realize that even 73 million is still over the cap, are there 2 levels of luxury tax, from the cap to 74, and then a higher rate over 74?

For this season, there aren't levels to the luxury tax.  It's a dollar-for-dollar penalty.  Next season, it becomes much more punitive, in $5 million increments.  It starts at $1.75 per dollar, then jumps at the $5 million mark, then again at $10 million, etc.

The $74 million affects whether teams can use the "full" MLE or not.  If a team uses over $3 million of its MLE in a season, it can't exceed $4 million over the luxury tax threshold under any circumstances, at any point.  The luxury tax line should be around $70 million, thus where the $74 million comes in.

It gets confusing, because the $3 million smaller MLE is called the "Taxpayers MLE".  However, we're going to likely be taxpayers, but still get to use the full MLE.  That's due to the $4 million "apron".

Tell me how I can make that clearer, because I probably garbled it.

Aah, the apron, ok, now I get it.  But I also read somewhere the C's did not want to be taxpayers for 3 straight years as that was very punitive, so are you saying they have decided not to avoid that at this point? If so, your praise to Wyc is certainly merited. Is it at all possible for them to be under the 70 mil this year or is that out of the question now?

Dallas has worked so hard to shed every single penny to have as much cap space as possible the next two years, I doubt they tie themselves up for 3/15 for JET

Dallas has really gone all in for cap space and if they can't land either DWill or DHoward this offseason, they could be looking at some serious problems.  They have virtually no trade assets so it's free agents or bust.

ok..if we miss on Ray...then who does Danny target?

C's pretty much resign Green, Bass, and Pietrus.

and another wing on the cheap IMO

Josh Howard?

Boston would have the all headband team...PP, Terry, Wilcox, Rondo, Howard

Look up the percentages, best offensive and defensive rebounder in the draft.

Even if you're going to disagree, he's the third best?  GREAT pick and a great rebounder.  That's the one thing Sully will do no question.

Total Rebound Percentage
------------------------------------
5.    Thomas Robinson-KS    21.4
15.    Miles Plumlee-DUKE    19.8

... Jared Sullinger 18.2

I think Sullinger beat one of those guys in ORB, and the other in DRB, hence the "best rebounder in the draft" claim.
Basically, but the claim is flat out wrong if you phrase it that way, because those guys all got more total rebounds.

Most versatile rebounder in the draft if you really want to put it that way.

Not my words, just passing along what I read elsewhere.

{Unless you're using "you" in the way that Hubie Brown does: 2nd person purely hypothetical.}

Terry is not worthy at all. 34 years old. Much better to keep Ray allen and to sign Billups under veteran minimum(100 times better that Terry)

If this happens, I am wearing a headband to all home games from now on. Pickup games too.

Total, we pay him 3/15 and Dallas 2/12.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Billups wouldn't sign for the veteran's minimum, we'd have to use the MLE to get him coming off a serious injury.

With JET on board, would it be feasible to do some three way deal to bring a quality big to Boston using S&T for Bass or Allen? Who should we target? All of you who want Ray back with Terry also in green aren't realizing that doing that would anger both Terry and Allen, taking away minutes from them... I would be so happy if we could involve Ray or Bass or both to bring Kaman to town in some 3 team deal.
