Stoudamire makes $20 mil for the next 3 years and if he gets hurt, we have to pay it. He has had so much work done he should move to La Jolla. There are few players I would less want to have. He simply has the worst contract in the NBA and could kill us until 2016.
Think of it this way, Celtics can either this year:
A.) Rebuild
B.) Resign/Retool
Most of us are pulling for B.
Say we resign most of our free agents (Green, Ray, Bass, KG) as opposed to blowing it up. Effectivly blowing our cap space this year and the next. KG, Bass, and most likely green and ray are not taking 1 year deals. So there goes 2012 and 2013. By 2014 KG and PP will likely retire, this team will be in rebuild mode without a star with Rondo, mid range draft picks do not cut it. Josh Smith or another semi-star
may be on the team but that is still not a contender and most likely Jeff Green would need to be given up to get them. So in 2014 Celtics are in rebuild mode. Amares contract ends in
2015 .
So my question is, if we are in total rebuild mode in 2014, why does that cap space matter? What free agent superstar can possibly be lured to a rebuild?
Atleast even if Amare was injured and his contract was hurting the C's pockets, it would be a h*ll of alot easier to hit the cap floor and make sure theres no Ben Gordon/Charlie V contracts handed out during the rebuild.
Why not get Amare?
