Bass is a complementary piece and marginal starter (due to size). 

He's a marginal starter because of his skill level, not because of his size.  (See: Millsap, Paul)

If we don't have to overpay I have no problem with bringing him back. I am disappointed in his play-off performance, but we might be asking too much from him scoring wise. He's a solid player and with a reasonable contract he can be moved pretty easily.

Exactly, he has some value. I would keep him for next year for multiple reasons. He is not being billed as our starter going forward. Only in that role due to injury. The next choice is probably Sasha.

It seems like some folks have unreal expectations for Bass. He is a backup PF. He is a role player. He gives decent effort. He can knock down the open midrange jumper and he rebounds. Above all he is an affordable big that will accept his role and not become a pain that thinks he deserves more like the previous tenant.
