Bass is a solid player. I'm hoping this slump in the playoffs lowers his value enough for us to resign him at a good price.

It almost seemed like the Rondo/the team were forcing it to him trying to get him to keep shooting but I wish they wouldn't completely do that, just putting more pressure on him.

I have never seen another team do that the way these Celtics do.  Over the years, they've done it with Baby, KG, Ray, Pierce, Bass, you name it.  Bass got 15 shots in 25 minutes!

The C's move the ball to guys when they're wide open, they'd probably keep throwing it to Reggie Evans if he was on the team.

Bass is just good enough, even at a good price, to cause roster problems. I'd rather develop JJJ and upgrade the strarting PF (Bass) with someone like Kris Humphries.

Big Baby's playoffs > Bass' playoffs :'(

Overall youre absolutely right...except baby didnt help his cause last year...he was good in the regular season and HORRIBLE in the playoffs...even worse than Bass, but more times than not Baby came up big in big games, including a buzzer beater in the playoffs and a huge finals game.
But overall Id agree that we're seeing something in Bass now that wasnt there most of the season..hes hesitant, unconfident and doesnt look like a starter.. when  entering the starting lineup his abilility to consistently hit his shots with KG at the 5 was one of the reasons our season turned around..just not happening now and I think its what the Maverics and Magic both saw

I'm a Bass fann...butttt..Bass has disappointed me in the playoffs.  He a big strong fellow , he needs to "get his mind right" and play like he means business.  he is acting very "SOFT" .  He needs to use his upperbody strenght and move people out, BOX OUT and grab the rebounds with BOTH hands.

I'm leaning to letting him go too now.  I would definelty sign Allen, Green and Wilcox back over Bass.

The worse he plays the more likely the C's will be obligated to take him for $4M next year.  Probably an okay thing, but not great.

Why exactly Green or Wilcox over Bass? Bass played better in the regular season than either and as bad as hes been in the playoffs i dont recall wilcox or green being playoff warriors

Jeff green is a more athletic, longer, higher jumper , and a get your own shot capable player.  Unproven in the playoffs, but I feel he needs a solid year to work in the system.

Wilcox can out work Bass 6 to 1  ,was just comming into his own as a CELTIC....and doing very well,  rebounding , hustle, blocking shots, running the court. Bacically all the thing we want Brandon to do , and he has done very little of in the playoffs.

Bass has been  standing around looking sort of lost IMO.    Not that I  thought that in the regular season .

Anyway time for Bass to wake up !! Its playoff time !!

Yep, the smaller 76ers would seem to be a chance for Bass to shine. Block em out and "REBOUND"

Green should be a 3, not an alternative to Bass, and Wilcox should be less expensive.

I like Bass he has found a horrible time to slump but I still like his game and what he has brought to the team this season. I'm hoping he comes around this series because the Cs really need him.

With that being said I dont think he has ever really been in the plans moving forward. I think Danny made a great move this off season in getting bass for BBD. Danny new he didn't want to get tied up in a long term BBD contract but also desperately needed bigs. The trade work out amazingly well in that the Cs got the PF they needed and didn't lose there cap flexibility. In this offseason Bass will sign else where and Danny will likely say "We really liked what brandon contributed to this team but we wanted to open up more minutes for JJJ and jeff Green at the 4".

Where J Green is a much better 3 then 4 he is capable of playing both. Especially with so many teams playing small. Listing the eastern conference playoff teams and their starting PFs. Miami, Atl, NY (melo), and orlando all started PF with size comparable to Greens.

Miami  Bosh
Bulls  Boozer
Indiana West
Atlanta Smith
Orlando Anderson
New York Melo/Amare
Phili Brand

Next year I see Green starting at the 4 and with the first substitution shifting to the 3. Playing 50% of each.

This is why I would love for Danny to figure out a way to trade up using both picks and possibly JJJ for Sullinger or Zeller (if either drops to teens). Either could step in and be the 7th man next year. Coming off the bench for the 4 or the 5.

KG
JGreen
Pierce
AB
Rondo
6th Ray
7th Zeller
8th Pietrus
9th Steimsma

Hey let's make long term decisions based on how we're feeling at the moment.  Great strategy.  So all year long, Ainge was a genius for trading Bass for Davis, but all of a sudden Baby is way better in the playoffs so Orlando knew what they were doing.  Where were all these people when Baby struggled in the play offs last year? or when Bass was killing us in 09/10 last year?  Bass has been doing fine this year in the play offs.  His jumpshot is not falling, but he's getting to the line and making his free-throws.  He'll get better.

At this rate we could be getting Bass back cheap...I'd love to have him back off the bench.

I like most of this.

Green at the 3 is great, especially off the bench next year, then starting the year after.

I like Wilcox over Bass for a number of reasons, size being one of them.  It's hard to start an undersized player unless he's just simply outstanding in some way, and Bass's problem is that he isn't.  Frankly, and I'm not an expert on that particular Celtics era, but he reminds me of Ed Pinkney, an athletic 4 who never seemed to be as good as we might have thought or hoped.

So to my thinking, Bass coming back next year depends on the development of JJJ, since he'd be competing for the backup 4 spot and isn't a deep bench player himself.

Whether we have a legit shot is probably also a factor.
