The Knicks better focus on defense and defend their butts off
or it'll be over quick....

With good defense by the Knicks the series could go 7 imo.

I can never remember -- does the NBA 're-seed' after the first round?  Would Knicks get the Bulls in round 2 or are the playoffs bracketed?

Nope brackets are fixed. If the Knicks were to upset the Heat they'd play the Pacers/Magic winner.

I actually like how the Knicks matchup with the Heat.

Bosh usually flounders against physical bigs. and Chandler should be able to neutralize him on offense as well as keep lebron/wade out of the paint.

also, we saw how much trouble wadee had when guarded by bradley...shumpert should be able to give him some trouble guarding him.

Lebron isn't kept out of the paint by anybody. Nor is wade. Lebron trots in there at will, takes 11 steps, and gets and-1s when someone puts their pinky on his shoulder. Have all of you forgotten last years playoffs?

Wade will no doubt goon melo aswell. Heat in four or five games.

how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was chris bosh?

I disagree with this.  The knicks may have been riding melo's hot streak for the last couple of weeks, but they in no way 'should have' been a 3 or 4 seed.  They are what they are, the 7th seed.  Games are played on the court and not on paper 'potential talent'.  I get tired of everyone talking about how talented the knicks are.  For all their so called 'talent' they haven't improved on their winning % and I doubt they are going any further in the playoffs this year than they did last season.

Ever since the knicks traded for melo they have yet to play like a team (few weeks w/ Lin the exception).  I don't think they are going to beat the heat, although I wish they would.  I think we match up better with them than Miami if the C's were able to get to the ECF.

The Knicks flat out *SHOULD* have been the 3 or 4 seed this season based on that roster alone. I've been hoping for them to match up against the Heat in round 1 and I'm very excited that it's happening.

Chandler can dominate. Melo can neutralize LeBron. The biggest thing going to the Heat is Wade's advantage over any other 2 the Knicks can put.

I just like the size of the Knicks and the fact that they're loaded (if healthy). Baron and Amare's back issues could crop up and doom them, but if they STEP up and feel healthy, watch out.

Yeah...that's the sad reality of it. Funny thing is, even without Stern and the refs protecting his butt, Wade and LeBron could probably still get in the paint, but the Heat might not be a top tier team without those prissy touch fouls...

Knicks can absolutely upset the Heat. The possibility is very, very real. The Heat are going to need to be at the very top of their game.

Huh? Melo cant neutralize a chair if its in front of him, hes a terrible defender, didnt old Pierce just drop 38 on him a few games ago? He isnt shutting down anyone especially not the best player in the NBA.

Chanlder dominate? How so? He will get fouls called on him constnatly everytime Wade and Bron drive into the paint, and hes a no show on the offensive end unless the recipient of pick and roll dunks or lobs.

On paper the Knicks have talent and it could be a long series, who knows what might happen, its definately an interesting matchup though.

He means neutralize as in counterbalance LeBron's monster numbers with 40 points of his own or at least tire the crap out of him on defense.

Chandler can dominate through scoring. Sure, the Heat have defensive bigs but none 7 feet tall (not the good ones anyway). Even without anything resembling an offensive arsenal, he can beat them with just putbacks and cutting.

I don't think the cHeat will let Lebra wear out on Melo.  Battier will sub for Chalmers pretty quickly in the playoffs so they put their best players out there.

Wade
Lebra
Battier
Bosh
Anthony

with heavy minutes to Turiaf and Haslem against the big Nix lineup.  Melo and Pierce are the reasons they went for another SF instead of filling one of their huge holes in FA.  They need to keep their horses on the floor.

Against us, they'd go smaller with Battier or James at PF, leaving Bosh to pull KG out of the paint.

Playoffs are about matchups and tweaks...

I thought Battier sucked this season?

Truthfully, I can't stand Miami and don't watch their games due to the ill feeling I get whenever I see them, however...

He'd be in for defense to save Lebron from getting in foul trouble.  Melo's a physical player when at his best, and Battier probably matches up against Melo better than Miller.  Lebron and Melo will duke it out in the 1st for a bit, but the real contest will be which one gets fouls called against him first.

Playing coach a bit here...for a team I absolutely can't stand.  Go figure.

I know, I don't watch the Heat either but apparently Battier's age is really starting to show. Here's to hoping Melo owns them (despite me being kind of partial to the guy).

100% agree

Caramelo ain't stopping any top SF, let alone the best in the league. Doubt NYK give them any troubles, maybe win a game or 2 at home with streaky shooting but they have to use Melo too much(48% shooter) when Amare is out (60% shooter).
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
