Haha jeez Ronnie. He makes it hard to advocate for here. Idiot.
The worse thing was him squaring up going into the fighting stance after you would think it was the UFC watching him. It was somewhat hilarious made him look even more like a fool.

Haha, I actually loved that. I hate the 'tough guy posturing' that players do in the NBA. Ron Artest is a boxer, and apparently he doesn't like posturing. Ibaka would've been wrecked.

Keep in mind, I'm not saying what he did to Harden was 'ok' by and means, but his reaction to Ibaka I have no problems with.

Lol I doubt it. Serge is from the war torn Congo. While he was playing ball his mom died, his father became a prisoner of the war, and people around him were getting slaughtered by machetes. I'll take serge anyday over that wanksta from queens. Doubt he has any worries about artest and his posturing.

He is dumb though that right there probably just upped his fine or suspension he's basically saying bring it let's fight could have turned into a brawl.

Ibaka's terrible past vs Artest's bountiful crazy. Did you forget he once saw a guy get killed with a chair leg?

Edit: that's hilarious. My iPhone corrects ibaka to Obama.

It would be interesting. He didn't see it though.

The thing about it with Artest (as opposed to Bynum) is that Artest is kinda...sick. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that he's got no real ill will towards Harden, and probably regrets the heck out of it now. He's trying to do good, trying to change perceptions of him, trying to make it work, despite a team that's constantly changing his role, and his own mental problems. And despite all that he got carried away, did something wicked stupid in the heat of the moment, and he's gonna pay for it.

He reminds me of Delonte. He's gotta pay for what he did, but I hope it's not more severe than a handful of games.

Perfect encapsulation.  I actually root for Ron to do better with his issues.  But I hope he doesn't play again until the beginning of next year....

That's the kind of reasoning that led people to bet on Ivan Drago. I'll take the crazy American underdog everytime. And if Artest is anything, he's quintessentially American. All he needs is a reality show about his wife and kids.

Ah, I'm kidding. He doesn't even have a training montage.

Even if the elbow was unintentional, surely the utter recklessness of the action warrants significant punishment...

Looking at the slow motion replay you can see as Harden bodies up to Artest he gives him some very light taps with his fist, as if to say 'OK settle down, we're inbounding the ball now'. Wouldn't surprise me if that is what prompted the elbow thrust.

Hahahaha, I'll give you a TP for attempting to use Rocky 4 as a legitimate boxing example.

Great stuff.

So how long till the verdict will be announced? Imagine if they stun us all and he gets 30+ :o

Dreaming, I know ::)

Oh and Ibaka would teach Artest a lesson if they went toe to toe. Easily.

Repeat offender and a shot to the head. Bad combo. Hopefully, there's a lenghty suspension coming up.

I am laughing at some of the reactions in the comments at Lakers blog Silver Screen and Roll.

Quote
Harden stayed down to ensure that Flagrant 2

and Ibaka woulda gotta his Congolese ass handed to him by Ron Ron if he was serious about squaring off! Seriously, I think the elbow was 70% inadvertent and though hard I think Hard “Griffened” it up by staying down. I’m old enough to remember how rough players used to play night in and night out. Now everyone wants to send Ron Ron to San Quentin which is absolutely ridiculous. Btw, Harden ran into MWP and tried to throw his chest into Ron. You reap what you sow.

Harden started it with that stupid "undercut", trying to cut off Metta's...

… celebration and Metta’s route back down court.
Be-atchy gamesmanship on Harden’s part, that backfired big-time.
Bet Harden won’t try that stunt again.

There was NO REASON for Harden to take that space, at that instant (freeze your video and clearly see it was a loose ball – not ready to be inbounded by anyone).

Harden started it. Then, KA-POW, Metta finished it.
I got no problems with it. Sends a message.

I also saw lots of hatred for Mike Breen bringing up the Malice at the Palace and being critical of MWP.  And, clearly, any suspension over two games is going to have some LA fans accusing David Stern of being biased against the Lakers.  (I think every team's fans think David Stern is biased against their teams.)

Honestly, I actually believe Artest when he said that he didn't mean to do it.  I think he's so unaware of the potential consequences of his own actions that it's probably the truth.  There's precedent for it - after the whole Malice incident, Artest asked SJax (completely seriously) if he thought they'd be suspended.  Jackson's response was something along the lines of "Suspended?  We'll be lucky if we're still in the league."

If there's one player in the NBA who doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt for incidents like this, it's Artest.  Intent or no, Stern needs to bring the hammer down on this one.
