Harden did not give ground and may have gotten into him a bit; but with his track record Meta WP will have a nice long vacation this Summer and into the Fall.

Lakers are the ones that will suffer most from this; but that's what they get for hiring him in the first place.

Stern is too chicken poo to do anything and Metta Stupid Peace sorry excuse for a human himself.   He loves the fakers and he would have loved it more had it been done to our Avery Bradley.

This is what you expect form the HEAT and Lakers ....cheap shots .  All low class .

Alright Lakers, amnesty time!

That was absolutely disgraceful and disgusting.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
The thing about it with Artest (as opposed to Bynum) is that Artest is kinda...sick. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that he's got no real ill will towards Harden, and probably regrets the heck out of it now. He's trying to do good, trying to change perceptions of him, trying to make it work, despite a team that's constantly changing his role, and his own mental problems. And despite all that he got carried away, did something wicked stupid in the heat of the moment, and he's gonna pay for it.

He reminds me of Delonte. He's gotta pay for what he did, but I hope it's not more severe than a handful of games.

I don't think it really matters what Artest's mindset or lack there of is.  If he isn't stable enough to be on the court and not clobber another player then he shouldn't BE on the court.
Personally I feel bad for him if he is having mental illness problems, but those problems don't excuse what happened and they shouldn't effect the suspension that is sure to come.

opps, forgot to say that I do tend to agree with you on Bynum.  Where maybe a lot of marbles are missing with Artest, Bynum is just a thug.  plain and simple.

Done for the season I hope.

Nice try, I guess, Metta.  I'm not buying it, though.  I understand the whole heat of the moment thing, but that elbow was just way too dangerous, and he wasn't swinging his elbow to celebrate the dunk.  He was swinging it to hit someone.  Maybe Metta celebrates with violence, but that can't be acceptable.

There's no length of suspension or fine that would make me feel bad for Metta World Peace.  He deserves whatever he gets, and he'll undoubtedly deserve more than he gets.

I don't think senseless violence has a place in the NBA.  Leave that for the skaters and puck chasers.

Are you really being serious Indeed Proceed or just playing the devil's advocate here?  A few games?  Really?

That was the most vicious NON-basketball intentional foul I have seen in my 3 decades of being and faithful NBA fan.

If he doesn't get a minimum of 10 games, Stern and the NBA are both jokes!!

I would consider a life-time ban personally.

I agree with all that, Blink. I'm just saying that I don't feel the same way about this (in terms of personal judgement) towards Artest here as I would if like..Josh Smith had done it or something. He's still gotta pay for it, but I don't think it's more than a 3 or 4 game suspension. That's just me.

If harden is gonna miss time, it should be more.

Completely serious, Smitty, I'd say Bynum's full body check of Barea to be a bigger foul, personally.

Indeed,

One could have killed a guy and the other clearly could not have.  Can we agree on that?

If you are a sporting organisation looking to impose a sanction on a player for a breach of the rules then the other player's injury or lack thereof should have no bearing on your decision.

The incident should be judged on whether there was intent to harm another player (there was) and the force of the blow. (high impact, serious force)

Artest should get 10 games plus.
