I am pretty surprised that no one from the Thunder did anything in retaliation.  Not that retaliation is the smartest move, it just seems like such a cheap shot that you have to react to support your team mate.

I think this is the sort of spot where you have to wait to retaliate.  MWP has been ejected.  Wait for at least the second game that you play him to lull him in a false sense of security, then hit him in the air the next time he tries a dunk or layup, trying to undercut him so he rotates in the air and lands on his head unprotected.

I personally think at least a 10 game suspension is warranted, if not the remainder of the season.  Not only was it Artest, an intentional blow to someone's head, but also out of the flow of the game - this was right after a score when both sides were running down the floor.   My fear is that the league wimps out, and gives him 2-4 games, which would be ridiculous.

Just watched it again a few more times....this guy should be out of the playoffs, no doubt in my mind.  That was pure maliciousness.

Gotta love Ron's statement, "It's unfortunate that James Harden had to be hit with an unintentional elbow."There's the problem...zero accountability. If Ron Ron would at least say "what did was wrong." that would be somewhat remeemable. But, he's going to give that BS "unintentional" line thinking it will diminish his suspension.

Honestly, I think Stern will go the other direction with this.  It's kind of an easy opportunity for him to come across as a hard line disciplinarian.  With Artest's history there would be plenty of backing for him to lay down the hammer.

Take a cue from the NFL and up the ante on violent transgressions.

Besides there being a possibility of Harden having a serious concussion that could sideline him from 2 weeks to a month or more, that elbow could have destroyed his hearing and/or equilibrium.

I'll be shocked if Artest doesn't get at least a five game suspensions.  The only reason he gets that few games is that there is at least the 2 per cent ossibility that the elbow was an unintentional part of Crazy Ron celebrating his dunk.

The league's got to make a strong statement on this one.  I say he's got to get 20 games minimum.  

In addition, he's got to be on notice that if he ever does anything even remotely approaching that level of violence during an NBA basketball game again, he's out of the league for good.  

There's no place for that kind of stuff in the NBA.

as much as I hate to see Harden go down and OKC lose a big piece of their puzzle, if Harden suffers the ill effects through the playoffs, it could eventually lead to the C's having a slightly easier road to the title (ever the optimist that they get by Atlanta, Chicago and Miami )
