After looking at only 2:00 min of that youtube clip on Curry, I'm guessing that if BOS and GSW pulled the trigger on this, the young man is talented enough offensively to allow us to make some noise in the playoffs.

Steph Curry just brings another dimension. Opposing teams like MIA, CHI, LA - they'd HAVE to account for Curry. He has the talent, IMO, to carry us offensively for stretches.

I'd dare Kobe to cheat off of Curry.

Those ankles are a concern, but man the kid is talented.

Like some have mentioned in the thread - The pot would be sweeter if GSW threw in Andres. Steph is perhaps more talented offensively, but Rondo is IMO the better overall player facilitator-wise and defensively and has championship experience.

I trust Danny that he'll do the right thing here. Don't let any team lowball us.

I'd be happy with this:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7a7st89

Celtics Trade: Rondo, Clippers 1st
GSW Trade: Curry, Thompson, Brown

Rondo isn’t a franchise player, I like this trades: Rondo to Golden / Monta to Celtics Rondo to Jazz / Big Al to Celtics Danny it´s time to trade Rondo, I think the relationship between Doc and Rondo is not good, Rondo has a complicated character.

I'd think the Celtics would have to take that deal. The Clippers pick is likely going to be rather irrelevant and you get back a potentially elite scorer along with a potentially good scorer and a guy that can step in and play meaningful minutes at C. Do this, hope Kahn acts like Kahn and gives you Beasley straight up for JO and try to compete this year.

The only thing that gives me pause here is the risk involved in trading a guy on a reasonable four year contract right before a rebuild. If we did this and Curry hated Boston, it'd be a waste.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

Plus, if our medical staff could do wonders for Shaq's body during his time here, I'd trust that Curry's ankles wouldn't be a recurrring thing.

Shaq was just awesome for us during his brief time here.

With Shaq's last injury, that was just his body saying "I'm finished. Can't give anymore."

Curry? I'd still pull the trigger - ankles or not. I'm sure Doc would rest the man liberally - he does that for ALL of the players.

That would be a no-brainer, for Boston. I don't think GSW would do that trade, though.
Celtics fan for life.

Eh?

37 games, 20 minutes a contest (both career lows)?

If the medical staff could do wonders for Shaq's body, we would've won more than 1 game against the Heat.

You're right that Curry is a better shooter than Rondo. But Rondo's better at defense, rebounding, passing, directing an offense, controlling the pace of the game and getting to the hoop. Those things all matter too, believe it or not. Oh, and it's not 2008 anymore, Rondo isn't playing with three people who can score 20 a night efficiently, he's playing with three people who used to be able to do that.

Yeah,I love when you run out of superlatives to describe Rondo so you just say multiple things that mean the same thing...in this case, controlling the pace of the game and directing an offense.

The fact that you don't understand that controlling the pace of the game and directing an offense are two different things and your low opinion of Rondo's value are probably related.

Yeah - but a 40 year old 350 pound body - and I bet he was more than that.

I tore my achilles last year playing ball at 41 years old, and I'm 6'4" and half of Shaq's size, lol...I think it was a miracle that Shaq gave us what he did, personally.

And that offense....our offense hasn't been THAT good in the last few years with Shaq in our lineup.

Shaq was worth it.

Curry, if this trade goes down, could offer us similar results, IMO.

More from Broussard

http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/this-just-in/21181451/broussard-doc-rondo-clashes-could-mean-trade

Quote
Chris Broussard of ESPN -- who reported on Wednesday that the Celtics are "aggressively shopping" Rajon Rondo -- spoke about the possibility of trading the All-Star point guard on SportsCenter on Thursday morning.

"With Rondo, it's a lot of personality conflicts," Broussard said. "He's kind of introverted, he's stubborn, which can be a strength but also a weakness. And he has trouble taking constructive criticism, and he does clash a lot with Doc Rivers. Now, they know he's a great player and they will not just give him away, but they feel like they probably can't rebuild around him because of the problems they do have with his personality."
