Finally bit the bullet and got ESPN Insider.

Below are related Celtic's Talk from Chris Broussard's latest article.

On Rondo.

Quote
Rajon Rondo, PG

Is Rondo a headache for the Doc? If so, he's could be on his way out.

Boston is aggressively shopping Rondo, according to sources. The Celtics find Rondo's personality to be too high-maintenance and his clashes with coach Doc Rivers continue. With the Celtics having realized they are no longer title contenders, they don't believe the payoff is worth the headaches Rondo brings, sources say. And they do not want to build around him.

In December, the Celtics had discussions with Golden State about a Stephen Curry-for-Rondo deal, and one source says it was Golden State that decided against pulling the trigger. But Curry's recent ankle injuries, which have caused him several problems in his short career, have given the Celtics pause. The potential trade is still being discussed by Boston's braintrust, but they aren't sure they want to go forward with it. It also isn't clear whether the Warriors would be willing to do it. Other players would have to be thrown in to make it work financially.

More on Curry and Ellis.

Quote
Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry, SG

The Warriors would rather move Curry, but Ellis could fetch a larger bounty.

While Boston is wondering about Steph Curry, the Warrior whose name is most often heard in trade rumors is Monte Ellis. Ellis has been open to (though not insistent) leaving Golden State for years, and if he had his druthers, he'd wind up with the Lakers, the Bulls or the Magic next to Dwight Howard, sources say. But none of those scenarios appears likely. While an Ellis trade is certainly possible, the Warriors would rather move Curry than Ellis, whom they believe is the better player.

Golden State is desperate for a big man and it would take a good one for them to part with either guard. The Warriors did in fact call New Jersey back in December to inform the Nets that they would be willing to participate in a three-team trade with Orlando, whereby the Warriors would send Ellis to Orlando in exchange for Brook Lopez, according to sources.

While that deal has little chance of happening, in part because Orlando would want much more than Ellis in return for Howard -- in fact, the Magic would want at least Lopez and Ellis -- if the Nets are able to sign Howard as a free agent this summer, they could revisit the Lopez-for-Ellis scenario since Lopez would then become expendable.

First, let me say how irksom it is to read the work of professional writers who don't have a grasp of basic grammar.

Second, I'm all on board with dealing Rondo for Ellis or Curry.  I might prefer Ellis.

TP for the "inside" info.

I'd strongly consider it given Curry's ability to shoot.  Put him with the Big Three and this time might be able to give it one last go at a title.

Also, while I like Rondo a lot, I think both players have bright, but not all time great careers in their future.  So while Rondo might end up having a better career, it likely isn't going to be the difference between Michael Jordan and Sam Bowie (though that was draft picks, not a trade).

Curry's knees are a concern, but if that's not going to be a chronic issue (and something that he can't bounce back from this season), it's worth considering.

There is 0% chance that Golden State moves Curry for Rondo.  This has been explored and rejected.

Curry has glass ankles so that is a concern, but talent wise it is a fair trade.

GSW wouldn't trade Curry for CP3 though , so doubt there is anything to this ...

Won't make much money as a bookie giving odds like that, but I do think that Ainge has learned his lesson with fragile players, mentally and physically.

With his ankles I am not sure he is a good investment. He will want a near max contract next season. I guess you could give him next year as a "test run" to see if he is worth it.

I think curry is probably the best player we could get for Rondo. How bad are his ankles? Rondo and Ellis would fit together perfectly. maybe gsw is interested because we would take biedrins contract off their hands.

I'm a little confused by this rumor.  I thought GS was looking to move Ellis, not Curry.  Potential ankle issues aside, isn't Curry the better player?

Neither is a "true" PG though.  Both are basically undersized SG's.  Not sure I would trade Rondo for either.

As I said on the front page, I love this "rumor".  Let's break it down:

1.  In December, the Celtics had discussions with Golden State about a Stephen Curry-for-Rondo deal, and one source says it was Golden State that decided against pulling the trigger.

2.  But Curry's recent ankle injuries, which have caused him several problems in his short career, have given the Celtics pause.

3.  The potential trade is still being discussed by Boston's braintrust, but they aren't sure they want to go forward with it.

4.  It also isn't clear whether the Warriors would be willing to do it.

5.  Other players would have to be thrown in to make it work financially.

So, what do we gather from this?  Golden State doesn't want to do the deal, and Boston might not want to do the deal, but regardless, it doesn't work financially.  Fantastic journalism there.

Agreed.  I'd trade Rondo for Curry is a second.

Curry is a far better player/prospect than Ellis.  Ballhogs like Ellis come around all the time.  Poor man's Arenas/Iverson.   Overrated chucker.  Curry, on the otherhand, is an otherworldly shooter.   I don't buy for a second that Golden State would rather move Curry than Ellis.  That's garbage.  They've been trying to dump Ellis for years.  They couldn't even be convinced to part with Curry for CHRIS PAUL.

I feel like Insider is ripping people off.

I'd take either Curry or Ellis for Rondo, those are two prime players and big time players at that. I'd rather have Ellis I think because he and Bradley would be a nice combo, but Curry works too. I also heard earlier that if any deal went down with GS and Ellis, it would almost likely HAVE to include Bierdrins or Lee (contractual reasons)

When I first hear a rumor I think about what parties would gain by a rumor being leaked. Golden state saying that they think ellis is a better player makes ellis seem more valuable. boston being desperate to move rondo lowers his value. This leads me to believe that golden state put out the rumor to aid a rondo for ellis deal.
