Can't believe despite all the punishments Ohio State is cleaning up...they took 5 guys or so from PSU. Urban Meyer is going to be someone I don't like. I just know it.
As a lifelong Buckeye fan I can tell you it shouldn't be a surprise. Ohio State is one of the top 5 programs in the country and has a coach with multiple national titles (even before Meyer took over, Fickell had OSU in the top 20 and everyone knew he was a lame duck coach). USC cleaned up in recruiting and it got hit much harder than Ohio State, why, because it too is a top 5 program. I am not a huge fan of Urban Meyer, I just don't like him, but as coaches go, there are very few better (if any) so I'm sure he will grow on me coaching my team.
Penn State has been deteriorating for years. Every so often Paterno would land a great class, which would show in the standings, but it hasn't been a truly elite program in years. Paterno needed to retire 10 years ago (at least 5 anyway) when PSU was still PSU. With the scandal I wouldn't be surprised if PSU falls into the bottom third of the Big Ten for the next 4 years or so, at which time it will bring in a new coach and try to turn it around (which it can do). Perhaps the new guy will surprise me, but he just seems like a poor fit and I would have gone after a young up and coming coach who maybe PSU wouldn't normally consider, but that could come in and right the ship with new energy, style, etc. and certainly someone that could recruit.
