All BC needs itself is QB, RBs, WRs, TE, DL, LBS, DBS, P, and Ks plus a new head coach.

They'll do fine.   ::)

My family had BC season tickets for about ten years, last year we had to stop. It literally felt like a chore to attend their games. How they can be a D1 team and have had this miserable of quarterback play post Matt Ryan is beyond me.

kinda like every year? Well not every year. But lots of years. I think this is why nobody ever feels sorry for BC. They get these recruits nobody wants and then embarrass other teams with them all over the place.  They're like the Yankees in reverse.

Best part is, another QB from Matt Ryans school turned BC down for Yale.  I mean ya, Yale is Yale for academics but if the kid wanted to play pro ball, BC should be able to lock him down

Big day for UMass and new head coach Charlie Molnar, as it rolls out its first recruiting class for its first FBS season. I am sure the Minutemen are going to take some lumps the first few years, but I am looking forward to the increased competition.
Home games are a two hour ride away....

What was that school thinking??

They're making substantial renovations to McGuirk stadium and anticipate it being ready to go in 2014.  I don't know if you've ever been to a game there (pictured below), but personally my high school football team played in a better stadium.

You cannot expect to compete at the D1 level playing infront of 15,000 people and with very poor infrastructure and accommodations.  The temporary move to Gillette will be a tough transition, but a necessary one.
are there other MAC stadiums lots better?

Most MAC stadiums appear to hold ~30,000 after a quick search.  Though the Temple Owls play at Lincoln Financial Field (home of the Eagles) which holds ~70,000.

Outside of Temple, none of the stadiums are too imposing, but they still outclass Mcguirk by a decent margin.

Thank God I moved away and got away from that mess every fall.  Went every fall for, lord knows, how many years.

Even the tailgating scene blows there now.  Thanks Gene.

My friends and I aren't going to do season tickets again, just probably get tickets to 3-4 games.  You are right, it really did become a chore, especially since this past year we had to leave at halftime a few times out of frustration.

Run-Run-Pass(or draw)-Punt has ruined it for me.

Wow. You guys are really down on BC football. Playboy said they refused to rank PSU against other schools as a party school, because they refused to rank pros against amateurs and I was totally blown away by BC.  It's small, but the mods are unreal. A grill for every unit? In a college town? I thought I might get killed. It was like Delta House, but the whole place. I woulda given the police machine guns like Israel. Instead they were all like 90 years old

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy it when I go, and I will probably just watch every game I don't go to from my couch, but unless they are playing a good team I can't keep funding their dedication to mediocrity or less.  Spaz is not a BCS coach or recruiter.  The program right now is in a death spiral that may take 5-10 years to recover from.

I am just not in the know with this BC football Spaz thing. I don't get it. He's trying to get kids to go to a cold good academic school with no major history of sending kids pro...well not lots anyway. Certainly not like some of the schools they recruit against.

He put in his dues and was left with young kids and transfers at QB and still got to a bowl and made trouble for other teams.  Do you think that Jags would be doing lots better after losing those guys?

What exactly did you expect of and expect of Spaz now?

It just seems to me realistic expectations for BC is like a top ten appearance once a decade, 2nd round draft pick every other year, usually pecking at top 25, occasional losing seasons after losing senior QBs, and Spaz only seems about a year removed from that and you still got a Butkus award winner and continue to cause headaches for Tom O'Brien, which always makes me happy

With the exception of BC hockey (which, coincidentally, Gene really hasn't been able to touch), I have absolutely no faith or real interest in BC athletics right now.  The biggest question mark I have right now is which sport is the bigger joke and has more problems; football or basketball?

It's a shame that its come to this these days since I used to actually really give a darn about BC sports.

Look, I think Spaz is a good guy and very solid coordinator.  I've met him in passing and haven't taken anything negative out of it.

The problem is that he's a career coordinator who's now trying to coach a D1 football program.  He's not a head coach. I hate to say it, but he's bit of a dinosaur.

When it comes to recruiting for BC football right now, its like bringing a pencil sharpener to a gun fight.

There are so many kids out there that academically should not be getting recruited by the schools they are going to.
Welcome to the factory that is big time college football. Does any kid really go to Texas, Oklahoma, Miami, Ohio State, USC, Alabama, LSU, etc, on a football scholarship to get an education?

I'd say very few, although Ohio State and USC are very good schools academically.
I admit I used to feel this way, but we probably won't be making these jokes again for a good long time...darn it

I admit I haven't been overwhelmed by BC recruits lately, but you guys have a history of finding great great players nobody wanted and them becoming the best around...Flutie, Ryan, Luke K, Bill Romanowski, Jamie Silva, that running back you have that just got hurt...you know the one.  I can't think of lots of 4 star guys that everyone wanted that went to BC and led the team to good times.  The only top recruit I can think of where you guys really beat out the rest of the country was Tim Hasselbeck
