All of this after the contract? Ugh
Signed to a 6 year $0 contract with the Celtics Blog forum!

Whatever it is, it doesn't sound good. Forget basketball, I hope he's ok overall outside of sports.

The original thing that was wrong was him failing a stress test, not sure if that is what's still the holdup or not.

Definitely an uncomfortable situation.

What exactly would the team do if Green ends up failing the tests?  All we'd have is the minimum to replace him.

Ugh.  Let's hope that is all much ado about nothing.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

if it's a serious enough issue that he can't play the rest of the year, we could apply for a medical exemption since it happened before the start of the season, and i think we'd have at least a few million, if not more, to replace him  (portland is in the same situation w/ roy retiring).

though it's not as if there are many really good players out there at this point.

“It’s good news,’’ Cho said. “It can help us facilitate trades. But it’s not like it was a surprise. It just gives us another avenue to help facilitate a trade.’’

The Blazers have until Dec. 30 to use the exception, which can be used to sign a free agent or in a trade. However, it can not be aggregated with another exception. The Blazers also hold a $2.3 million trade exception acquired in the October trade of Jerryd Bayless. That exception lasts for one year.

For instance, if the Blazers are trading a $7 million player, they previously could only take back a player with a roughly $7 million contract. Now, they can also take back that $7 million player and a player making $3.38 or less.

The $3.38 million was determined by taking half of Oden's 2010-2011 salary.

Also, if the Blazers use the exception to sign a free agent, they must waive a player because they are carrying the maximum of 15 players

Sounds like the exception would likely be $4.5 million, since Jeff's contract is for $9 million.

It's likely that the contract didn't go through if he flunked his physical. If it did, though, is the exemption still half his salary? Because that could be up to $4.5M.

I believe the contract would be voided if he didn't pass the physical.  Don't think the injury exception would come into play.

yeah, we'd really be in a rough situation if his contract didn't go through but he still couldn't play for the season.  i suppose the NBA probably couldn't help us out in that situation, even though we've relied on the assumption that we'd have him on board in building our roster so far.

Danny Ainge said some results in on Jeff Green. Good or bad? "All based on perspective. But I really don’t want to talk about that."

oh boy.  that doesn't sound good at all.

"all based on perspective" to me, sounds like "well, he can't play for a while / this year / ever again, but at least he's okay and not in any immediate medical danger; that's what really matters."

Certainly doesn't sound like good news for Green's chances to get on the floor in the near future.

Yeah, or "well, it's bad because he has X, but its good because this physical may have saved his life."

yeah.  however you say it, it sounds like Jeff Green might not be playing for the Celtics for a long while . . . if ever again.

wow.

let's hope we're just reading too much into it.  but as Doc said today, if your physical is taking this long, it usually means something is up.  the fact that the celtics are waiting until tomorrow afternoon to make an official announcement about the test results they got today suggests it's really serious.
