I miss this guy

Did you hear what good shape Perk is in this year?!?  He's down to something like 270!  He should have been a Celtic for life...even if people around this board are sick of hearing about what will probably go down as DA's worst ever trade.

im tired of hearing people talking about Perk...people forget that "this guy" aka perkins wouldnt have been on the team this year...just like BBD he wanted more money and more years...last year you can say it hurt us. but hed likely be on OKC any way

I hope Jeff Green is all right though, because I think our bench is built really having him as "the guy" if its a heart issue, it wouldnt necessarily end his career would it? theres other players out there with heart issues

The difference was that Perkins was lockerroom bedrock, Rondo's best friend, and provided a real service with consistency we still haven't come any closer to finding a viable long-term replacement for than when he originally hurt his knee during the Lakers game.

The place where Perkins and Babys similarities stop is at the money demands.

Yes, let's build a shrine for our cap space and Celtics fans can pray there everyday. It'll look really nice when nobody significant will want our money next year.

Look at what the Pacers were able to do with cap space: stole our preferred free agent right from under us.

Cap space is very useful.  It's just that the C's have never really had any in the recent iterations of the CBA.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

But the Pacers had cap space and a young core. We'll only have Rondo and cap space. Jeff Green may turn out to be okay, but I have my doubts.

I'm adding "Perkins playing mediocre underwhelming basketball", to "Rondo shooting as poorly as ever", and "Paul Pierce not showing his age", as my things to watch this season.

Cap space is great to make trades too. Memphis got Zach Randolph for free because they had the cap space to take on his contract. The C's may be able to do that next year for guys like Josh Smith, Big Al, Kevin Martin who will all be entering the last year of their deals and will be up for new contracts in 2013.( Would likely have to send a draft pick back)

This is one reason I hate message boards (luckily there are more reasons I like them than not)...

this guy could have serious health problems and all some can think about is, when it comes down to it, insignificant things!

Hope you are fine Jeff... basketball be [dang]ed!

Please get back on topic, if you want to discuss cap space and Kendrick Perkins you can do that in other threads that aren't explictly about Jeff Green's current situation.

  • Rondo = Good
Personally, I cannot wait to see Perk tear it up for OKC this year. But, I am done talking about this trade.

yeah, all i can say is hindsight is 20/20.

You really think West chose Indy because they have some half-decent youngsters who helped them win 37 games last season?

I think it had a lot more to do with the paycheck and the future earnings potential (plenty of shots, minutes and thus money-making stats on a team with one established offensive option, as opposed to a smaller role and less money in Boston).

I'm with Pos on this one. We would not have beaten Miami with Perkins. Danny did the right thing in going out and trying to get a player who could keep Pierce and Ray fresher. We lost last year because we weren't as good on the wings.
