That Perk trade is looking even worse now....
A blow-up scenario is looking more and more likely now.

I was really looking forward to Green and felt like he was going to have a huge year this sucks.

Basketball aside though wish him well whatever the case.

My concern is for Jeff and his health...that is first and foremost...

That aside (and not to sound callous) the Celtics have to make decisions moving forward.  If Green absolutely cannot play (and it's a possibility), I'd like to hope his contract is voided.

There are still players out there that can help, and I'd like to hope 100% of his contract is taken off the books.  Someone like Kirilenko comes to mind??

If it is the stress test failed would they allow him to play, and try and maybe put him on meds antidepressants or something?

I'm thinking that's what it is.....
Not that type of stress. A stress test is when they hook you up to a bunch of monitors (heart, pulse, breathing, etc) and then have you jog on a treadmill. They want to put "stress" on your body (heart mainly) and see how it handles it. There are serious conditions that only show up when you do the tests this way, or when you have "an event."  And you don't want to have "an event" because that's when you drop dead (or there abouts) without warning.

Several years ago, I passed out at work and after a visit to the emergency room, where they couldn't find anything, I had to have one of these stress tests. I also had to wear a heart monitor for a couple of days and then have the results of that evaluated. All in all, it took four or five days for the MD's to do all the tests, evaluate them and then tell me "We couldn't find anything wrong with your heart. It must have been a transient event."...ie, we don't know what it was, but it doesn't appear to be too serious.

If Green is very, very, lucky he'll get the same report from the doctors...but, sadly, I don't think he will. They have already found "something" during that test. It's a long shot that "something" turns out to be nothing.

Its not our money id keep him no matter what. All it does is save luxury $ we still can only sign vet mind if the contract is voided.

If he was signed to that deal and out for the rest of the year... Is there any chance his deal would be insured? If so a team would likely trade a player for it since it's basically like a trade exception.

I doubt insurance will pay his salary if he failed the medical test. If the Celtics still want to pay him, they'd need to do it with their money.

It's likely that the contract didn't go through if he flunked his physical. If it did, though, is the exemption still half his salary? Because that could be up to $4.5M.

I believe the contract would be voided if he didn't pass the physical.  Don't think the injury exception would come into play.

My thoughts too.  I have a suspicion that his contract will NOT be finalized and will NOT go through due to this.  I bet we know by tomorrow.  9M + 9M luxury tax is an awfully big financial hit for an owner unless you truly believe you have a title contender.

If you think the Celts want to back out of a contract they just agreed to because they suddenly feel that they aren't title contenders then you've probably been spending too much time on this blog.

Obviously not solely because of the finances, but if the guy has a legit medical concern they'd not be inclined to take on an 18M hit.  Ownership had expressed, pre-Big 3, that they'd be ready and willing to go into luxury tax territory if they felt they had a legit contender of a team.  They may be having second thoughts about an 18M financial hit.  I personally don't see our team as a real title threat any more than I thought the 1990 Celtics were a legit title threat.  Maybe they don't either.  In any event, it has nothing to do with this blog.

Did you hear what good shape Perk is in this year?!?  He's down to something like 270!  He should have been a Celtic for life...even if people around this board are sick of hearing about what will probably go down as DA's worst ever trade.

Personally, I cannot wait to see Perk tear it up for OKC this year. But, I am done talking about this trade.
