David West is not an All-Star caliber forward. He is an above average starter. A top 15 PF.

Agree to disagree, I guess.  He's made two all-star games recently, he averages a very efficient 19/8, and he plays very good defense.

I agree man.  Boston sports fan always tend to exaggerate when a player comes to Boston and when one leaves Boston.  Don;t forget he is on the other side of 30 and coming off ACL.  Dont just gloss over that folks!

well, if he's only making a couple million more a year than glen davis, im fine with that.

dude averaged 19 and 8 last year.

if danny is making this move i assume he is confident in david west's recovery from the injury.  if we can get 15-10 from him ill be all kinds of okay with that.

I would have expected David West to receive offers of around $35-40 million over four years from Indiana or New Jersey.

It looks like David West did indeed leave some money on the table to join the C's.

John Hollinger:  How can David Stern NOT kill a David West-for-garbage trade

Adding some weight to those "Hollinger loves the Lakers, hates the Celtics" conspiracy theories. ;)
Hollinger hates Jeff Green because Green struggled so much at PF while at OKC.

Too much focus on his stats. Not enough on the talent / skill-set (that J.Green could be a valuable player if used in a different role).

Because David West is a legitimate free agent?

Umad?
They are taking on $6 million in salary and getting nothing useful out of the deal.

Are draft picks involved? There would have to be picks involved for there to be any benefit for New Orleans.

Two options:

1.  From what I understand, the Lakers needed to take back some salary in their three way trade.  JO's could be what gets it done; or

2.  Jermaine could retire, not costing the Hornets his salary.

EDIT:  In line with the above:

Ugh so if it's not the latter we would be helping LA get CP3?

I don't like that.

If Jeff Green goes in this S&T its a bad deal.  I rather get younger!

RT @patrick_hayes: Hornets really taking Delonte & J.O. in S/T for DWest? I hope Demps just starts making horrible trades on purpose now.

I'd rather get better.  But in any regard, it seems as though we're keeping Green, so we can all be happy.

Let LA get CP3.  I think losing Gasol and Odom will hurt LA.  Howard is going to NJ.

If you look at the big picture, we'd be getting a player with much superior talent to BBD with a salary that appears to be a steal (injury notwithstanding).  NOBODY really saw this as a viable option heading into today...

West is a proven playoff performer against the elite of the Western Conference.

How many big men can say that?

The rumor is the players would be flipped to another team, right?  I'm definitely thinking Lakers.

I don't like that.

If we don't do it, someone else will. Why lose out on West, especially if we can keep Green?

Let the Fakers give up their huge size advantage. That is what has won them ch'ips the past couple of years.

Another question:CP3 or Kobe's knees: whose go first?
